A bellend for wanting to pursue a hobby that he enjoys? Really? Do you spend a lot of time twitching the curtains and tutting?

Damn right, I stand there with a cup of coffee and a huge pair of jam jar glasses.

According to @Scouse not bothering to leave the house to vote or spoil you ballot is sticking it to the man...the man doesn't give a shit. A non vote it better than voting for someone else!

Doesn't really matter, UKIP will never come to power. Most of these votes will have been protest votes. It'll be Labour because let's face it, no one is going to vote for the cunts currently in power again.

Why? Do people not like falling unemployment, lower public sector waste, lower hand outs, falling crime, increase in GDP, a recovering economy and a steady rate of inflation? Are you saying the electorate are simple?

The time of reckoning is upon the disconnected dreamers in Brussels..who in the living fuk thought they could bring such change so rapidly to the very fabric of society and identity without a backlash...I do believe you could read the consequences in the Ladybird book of the fucking obvious

So assuming handguns are legalised when are you going to start up that clay pigeon shooting range using nothing but handguns? or going hunting with nothing but handguns?

oh wait a minute

that's right, handguns aren't used for any of that, so why the fuck do you want them legalised?
We might be able to compete more in shooting events. Olympic etc. which we couldn't because of the ban

Seems a legit reason obviously!

There is one single sweeping event that can get rid of UKIP, the announcement of a Referendum and concrete date for one, regardless of who wins the general election.

Also, they won with only 7% or so of the population voting for them, our system is broken.

Actually what it tells you is that about 9-10% of Europe's population don't want to be part of Europe and are bothered enough to vote in order to make that happen.

we need a mandatory voting system
I don't think we do. Too many people do not vote by listening to all sides and making an informed choice as it. If you force everyone to vote they will end up voting based on the last poster they saw or because a guy down the pub said they would do xy or z. There should be more done to make people care about informing themselves on the issues and then voting, but just making everyone vote would make it more likely some clown gets actual power because there was a Twitter campaign about it.

I am shocked at the Tendring election results it has been a Conservative strong hold the whole time I live here but it looks like UKIP took double the votes.

If we have mandatory voting, we need a fuckwit test to see if people are sane

Question 1: Do you own a Staffie?

Question 2: Do you own a Subaru Imprezza?

Question 3: Do you drink Buckfast?

etc.

"Yes" to any of the above, and you don't get to vote.

why ?
do we have that test for people who bother to turn up now ?
whole thing is a fucking shambles but at least with 90% + we would get a proper reading not "oh lol we won with 18% of the country"

So you get better stats. So what? If it doesn't deliver better politicians (and based on Australia, it doesn't), what's the point?

you would get a better picture of the national result ?
leaving out the stuff about people being retarded etc as that has no effect on % turnout, how can more people voting be a bad thing ?

I think the idea is more like 'WHY are 18% of the country voting, and not the rest?'

If there's like lower than 25% vote, there should be questions asked, serious questions, not forcing people to vote, not voting is a protest, and also it's also laziness.

people should be forced to vote, they can still spoil it

Like fuck, forced voting to give the appearance that the system represents everyone...

What we need is laws that make politicians legally responsible to vote in Parliment the way their constituents tell them to. New copyright law, if we all write to our MP saying "fuck off vote no" they vote no

I'd like to see proportional representation. That would increase turnout. Right now what's the point of voting UKIP, Lib Dem, Green etc. if you live in a Labour or Conservative stronghold?

I am of course being slightly facetious.
