Riiight. Clarkson can't drive. Riiight. You do know that he (and May) were car journos long before they were on TG don't you? I've seen Clarkson drive, more than once, (I've actually been in a race with him back when the original TG website was launched) he can drive, end of story.

I don't really give a toss about which show you prefer, but as I've known a lot of these car journos down the years (at EMAP and at the BBC), I do know you're talking out of your arse about their abilities or otherwise.

What I liked about last night's show was it had a little bit of everything and little bit less silly:

- the Evoque review that actually told me everything I needed to know about it
- the McLaren review that made me sit up and go "wooow, want!"
- Vettel ffs, still getting big names into the show
- a reasonable section on "look what you could spend £7k on" which I found very interesting to watch given my "something for the weekend?" comment in the Audi R8 thread

Top Gear has one important thing over Fifth Gear; it's cool. Fifth Gear will never be cool and it'll never get big names on it. I do know that's got nothing to do with cars and the BBC clearly have more clout than Channel 5, but still.

You can't because it's a pro, and the other statement I made about TG being scripted drama comedy bollocks on a bid budget, rather then a car is also correct. If I watched to a comedy drama, I would watch one, rather then a "originally car show"

I have just watched the Macca MP4-12C review again and you can clearly see Clarkson peddling it from the outside, going impressively sideways. iirc JC had instruction on how to do such things at the start of New Top Gear, since then he seems to be fairly well respected amonsgst those who have worked with him.

Whether he is as good as a keyboard warrior from the far east somewhere, who's driving experience comes courtesy of Polyphony Digital is another matter however.

Considering Clarkson's doctor told him to stop sliding cars around due to the damage he done to his neck and spine doing so goes to show that he does it himself. Infact he ignored the doctors orders because he finds it to much fun to stop.

Now, I watch top gear but dont always enjoy it. But fifth gear just never grabbed my fancy because it just dull

Just watched it on iplayer. Not up there with my all time favourite episodes - but still very entertaining. Have never got on with FG. Find it slightly annoying and a bit derivative.
