There's a LOT of golf around our way (I have three within 10 minutes' walk five in half an hour's). And this is only North Dublin, there's shitloads more on the other side of town.

Sterile green space. Golf courses are environmental deserts, and in a lot of countries prolifigate water wasters as well . As it happens in Dublin we have a lot of decent green spaces and Europe's largest urban park anyway, and at least four of those golf courses would be no use for housing (they're reclaimed marsh at sea level), but that's not true in an awful lot of places.
