The Russian nuclear icebreaker can do 12mph through 8ft thick ice.
The noise must be indescribable.

Border police the world over have huge powers that domestic police never have. They can stop and search with zero suspicion, which is as it should be. That should of course extend to information held on computers as well as physical contraband. I honestly don't know what the problem is. If you travel across borders with corporate or government secrets you're a chump.

I have often had to travel with commercially sensitive data on my laptop. It's part of my job. Mostly around Europe but I have gone to the USA as well. Even got asked to go to Israel but I refused heh. Harder to get out of there than get in

Used to be just Customs & Excise. Then Labour merged C&E with the Inland Revenue (responsible for tax collection).

I think they've now got the same powers (and Customs & Excise had more than the police).

Don't get between the UK government and it's money. But then we're just a shit version of America over here.

with respect, I do enjoy being told why. when a mate got indicated by a drugs-dog once I was in agreement with the customs folk when they said they were going to search me as well on principle that we were travelling together and the request to comply was completely reasonable to me. If that request had come in completely random like, I would verly likely also comply but if they then proceed to seize personal posessions I will certainly demand to know why and protest most heartily if none were forthcoming.

Couldn't agree more, this country fucking sucks when it comes to human rights. Remind me again what the purpose of an elected government in a democratic society is there for?

Most people don't even know.
Even if you do know short of using diplomatic pouches you have fuck all choice. Anything shipped in or out of this country can be stopped and inspected.

I made sure i put TSA padlocks on my suitcase when I went to the states and they still cut my bag and just put TSA tape on it. The are twats.

TSA padlocks?
Never saw them mentioned anywhere, the wife had her Samsonite lock smashed off,
did tell her not to bother locking it, but women...you know.
Cost us 40 quid

Ouch, that sucks. I have TSA locks on my bags. Had one inspected, got a love note stating that they randomly selected and searched it. But as in all walks of life, some TSA agents I've met are wankers and some are funny and friendly, making your trip great.

Also just telling you what's going on helps so much. I was told I won the random number game and got a free pat down... so much better then just "step over here sir." :)

Yeah its not so bad the note said they wanted to inspect the bottles (Ice Tea) and it was quicker to go in from the bottom I bet. I did win a Random for training purpose pat down in the departure gate. As we were there very early I did not mind haha.

HAHA yeah. The drinks were at the bottom of the bag where it was cut. And the pat down was literally "Sir if it does not inconvenience you too much my college here is still training and he needs some practice. Could you spare the time?" He did about 5 of them on people sitting around.

I see now that Scumachers accident is now an 'investigation' by prosecutors.
Are they suing rocks now?

Waiting for Meribel ski resort to be sued, I can see it.

It's not bad....

But surely it should say Stuck between The Rock and a Hard Place to be grammatically correct?
