Advertising makes a huge difference, though. Look at what's happened to onlinxe gambling (FUCK OFF DEEBS WHY AM I NOT ALLOWED TO SAY ONSLICE GAMBLING??) since gordon brown legalised the open advertising of that? Companies like bwin and bet365 spring up from nowhere and are now worth hundreds of millions, not to mention betfair at ~£800mNice to see the government not run blindly into a scheme that probably makes little difference in smoking habits.
If they cared and the didn't rely on the tax revenue they would simply ban tobacco.
It's gonna take years for the affects of those measures to come through and the advertising ban one is arguably already kicking in. Along with the pub ban, smoking has reduced substantially recently.Tobacco advertising is already banned and has made little difference.
Tobacco cannot be on display in shops any more (Its all behind doors/curtains)and has made little difference.
What difference does it make what the packaging of cigarettes is like, except you might buy one brand over another because it has shiny packaging? Shiny packaging isn't going to make you start smoking in the first place. In the same way shiny packaging on bleach doesn't mean people clean their bathrooms more often.
When I smoked it was always the financial side of it that got me down the most and that's ultimately why I quit. Six pounds a day, £~40 a week, that's like £2k a year. It's just such a lot of money to be throwing into something, and it's not even something good.I think that's probably more down to the cost of it, £7odd for a pack of 20. For most smokers that's a daily cost. I smoke roll ups and spend maybe £15 a week and I think that's a complete waste of money. I am in the process of giving up, lowering the amount I smoke and then switching to patches...that's the plan anyway.
What?
Jones is planning a follow-up graphic novel, titled Mute, which will serve as an epilogue to Moon. Should the project progress to a film, "Sam has agreed to do a little cameo in the next film", says Jones, who ultimately hopes to complete a trilogy of films set in the same fictional universe.
Woo, there's potentially going to be a sequel to Moon.
