I'm officially a Desmond.

It's enough to get my onto my teaching course, so my life plan of doing little as possible and scraping by is going extremely well.

Results came out straight after the England game which was cool.

I hear there's a job vacancy for England manager!

Might be a clusterfuck? Pretty much guaranteed.
They need to get all the athletes to sign up to a clinical trial to see how many have babies with under developed heads / brains afterwards.

Oh and i thought the commonwealth games in india would be fucked up. But somehow they managed to pull it together.

Did you see Zara Phillips was relieved she hadn't been picked because of the 'baby' problem?

No i didnt. I can see why. But it seems its only a matter of time until the virus could be global rather than limited to south america.

Soo, the English pound is dropping like hell. Does anyone know any good online stores where you can choose standard EU plugs on all sort of appliances? :)

Yes, look at it absolutely roaring back to where it was on Thursday.

The only reason it's maintaining a level is because the Bank of England is propping everything up with liquidity injection.

Yeah. Great. Played and so on.

It's still recovering, and will continue to do so.

No - it's finding a new appropriate level outside of normal minor to and fro, supported as Callous states by the BoE. That said, apparently the BoE has not had to use much in reserves which is obviously good news.

By the way @Raven - what was wrong with Callous's spelling or grammar?

Nonsense. It will recover as the markets recover. It may not get to the highly inflated level the day before the Brexit referendum (which wouldn't have lasted anyway) but it will get up to 1.35-1.40ish in the next few weeks.

It has tanked, people have made a fortune, then it will recover and people will make another fortune.

The BoE have used a tiny amount...pretty much for the very same reason it is going to recover...because it is nowhere near as bad as the doom-mongers and vested interest crowd had idiots believing.

The poor spelling and grammar was for using a tiny snapshot to try and prove his desperate need to be vilified. Sort of bad spelling with poor data.

The 1.50 that it got to was an artificial high based on every one thinking remain was gonna win. So we are probably down 10 points or so from 1.45 or something before that.

Hey i remember when it was up nearly two bucks to the pound in the past :)

Nonsense. To say it was highly inflated pre-vote is a lie. Have a look at a longer view chart if you like - and facepalm me too if you dare :)

The "tiny snapshot" was responding to @Moriath saying it was "recovering from the low after Thursday". FYI the big tall red bit on the left is what happened after the referendum.

Yes, well spotted, congratulations. Not sure anyone is disagreeing it tanked though?

Yup, highest this year, last Thursday. Thanks for the reaffirmation.

Fag packet maths from that graph, 1.4ish mean. Currently 1.34

Well that's just bizarre. I could've sworn you said 1.55ish was "about right" for the dollar in the other thread.

1.55 is about right in a longer data set. For the 6 months leading up to June it has been a little lower. Its been in steady decline for some time now (up as high as 2 the further back you go)

This short term tanking is nothing at all to worry about in the long term. Something as momentous as leaving the EU wont change things over night, it will take decades
