Jesus Christ. You can't use monthly averages to talk about a sudden massive shock to an economy. The current rate would be about two thirds of the way again off the bottom of that chart so what are you trying to say exactly?

Correct, but only the utterly feeble minded would be taking a weeks worth of data (and an extreme event slap bang in the middle of it) as workable long term data.

The markets will recover, the pound will recover. History has proven this to be the case, there have been far bigger things than leaving the EU happen.

I resent that @Raven is being a twat over this while I am watching the cricket

Did you really mean a 1.40 mean (fag packet, yeah yeah) or 1.44? 1.44 would be a full 1000bp over the 1.34 it is now.....

I don't know markets very well, but if that line going down manages to go back up to where it was 12 months ago, then I'd say Brexit worked, it hasn't, it's recovering, but it's barely recovered.

Well, yes, of course they will. The UK is a fantastic and strong nation with much to it's credit. I have never disputed that fact. However - the question is not 'if' sterling will recover it is 'when' and how many months or years later that will be as a result of brexit, you fucking knobhead.

Like 2008? GBP has never recovered to the levels in 2007 against the Euro. it took 7 years to even get close. Against the USD it's even worse but that particular crisis was borne out of America so not a very fair comparison.

I think this is fitting for the current discussion, someone posted this on another forum - it was what their Grandad said,

Grandad says not to worry, nothing will be as bad as the Great Depression he grew up in. When he was a child, he was so hungry he ate acorns for dinner and had no shoes. People nowadays need to toughen up, he says. It’ll be OK in the end.

I do believe facebook putting on a dislike button would crash the markets more.

Sorry to say it, but I hope you'll be very restricted when it comes to the internal market. You can't get all the benefits without contributing. And what's your exports again? Cars and gold? I'll do just fine a German car

Hello??? Is this the politics thread or the random spam thread??

Hello??

Given they are all talking bollocks, I think it counts as random spam.

Can anyone tell me the name of the muppet character in DaGaffer's profile pic?

Er... Maybe you missed the bit where I said "Hey look, I can post poor data sets too". It was at the very start of the post too. Odd, but never mind.

Anyway, lets take this to the correct thread.

Calm down, don't go getting yourself carried away with insults just because you disagree, people are perfectly entitled to have an opinion, the Germans haven't taken over just yet.
