Rupert Sheldrake plausible, educated conspiracy nut or the Nigel Farage of science...I love to see scientists take on the foundations of science..if they are strong it won't matter, but they need to be shaken daily, nice guy to listen to.

Not really any of those things.

Most disciplines have different thought camps and people may seem that they other is mental but they respect each others views but put there arguments forward.

For instance 150 years ago, there were groups of intellectuals who were saying that in History the stories of the elites would become irrelevant and history would be about the history of the people, people were like lol yeah right, now look.

I watched the video and I think he's fully aware of what he's doing, and its not entirely radical, he is simply pointing out that there's a fault with science and these are the ways they could be fixed, if his renaissance happens, it may not take everything he has said with it, but it may influence it.

Personally, I agree with him, but I think it's wrong that we can change it, humans are objective and spiritual, we need answers and science is giving those answers to shake it up will unnerve the world and make things more difficult and we don't want that!

He starts off well but starts getting a bit new age hippy, which is sad because he is trying to line up possible unknown physics with cheap glastonbury stall mumbo jumbo.
Worth noting in his more classical science beginnings he was hailed as a genius of genetics and his call on the consciousness of the cosmos is now one of the three mainstream theories of what it is.

After a week away I couldn't bring myself to wade through all of my missed posts, so I am claiming, here and now, a 1 month Glenn-age amnesty :)

7 people taking part in organised animal cruelty, getting sucker punched by karma.

The bull runs arnt cruel. Its just cows running down a street. Imo

The actual bull fighting however is. Though i dont mind the one where they just leap over the bulls and stuff. Not the one where they stick them with spears and such.

Of course they do. Everything involving cattle in Spain usually ends up with the bull/cow dying a slow and painful death.

Microshite are under fire for forcing updates on Win10, call me a conspiracy nut, but there's no way the latest Windoze isn't packed to the hilt with CIA spyware and a a bazillion lines of code designed to make them money from you, the download is peer to peer as well, so it carries on sharing over your connection, it appears to have remote software for blocking pirated games...I wouldn't touch that POS with a bargepole, it just has to be the foot in the door for a whole new relationship between user and the net.

You can disable the peer-to-peer updates, you can also disable feature updates (but not security updates, apart from enterprise versions if I remember right), you can also disable the features that send voice data to improve speech recognition for Cortana, and you can disable the sending of your browser history, which is used to improve search results and accuracy when searching. I would very much doubt that any person sees any of this, it's most likely just fed into a server which spits out the result, discarding the data. Of course, there will always be conspiracy theories, but I like to think that common sense (usually) prevails... As for removing pirated games, can't comment on that, as steam sales and employment pretty much ended that track anyway. The EULA section regarding scanning for software and hardware to circumvent copy protection does seem to be aimed more towards the xbox though, from the wording, which makes sense as Windows 10 is going on the xbox one at some point.

On a connected side track...just talking to a mate and he was asking about WIN10, I said hold onto 8 until they get it fully sorted, so he says his kids school have asked everyone to upgrade the kids home computers to 10 so they can have a seamless home school crossover...which set me thinking of the implications of WIN 10 being some sort of defacto world OS even more than it is now, all competition washed aside when educators are picking win10 as the base learning tool...from cradle to grave interfacing with the world via something controlled (possibly) from the States, only viable alternative is Android, ipoons are unlikely because they are just for fluff merchants and art degrees.
It just concerns me of WI10's reach, up to this point MS sort have had world domination by accident and were only thinking of the cash, but this new free update has to be the equivalent of candy crush, they have in their hands everything you are and everything you do...fucking scary.
I too would like to believe most of it is simply handy ways to make it all work better, but you can't tell me MS haven't got teams dedicated to delving as deep as they can and use the most obscure ways to track and extract information for sale and for profiling, I'm pretty sure the scandals will be a weekly event as people dig into the code.
