Shes just involved, as we should be. We should either be balls deep in Europe or not at all imo.

give it a couple of years and a referendum in Catalonia, the entire lot will come crashing down
Oh what joy!

Then we can go back to war with everyone, killing millions of fucking idiots who will readily volunteer (or if not, we'll conscript them and shoot the clever people unpatriotic cunts). And post that atrocity we can have another eighty years of bleating on about "our heroes who died for our freedoms" as, slowly, generations of people with little brains forget that Europe was the thing that stopped us killing each other - and gradually wish for the demise of "Europe Mark 2" - which we signed up to to prevent more future killing.

Then rinse-repeat!

Peace really does bring out the morons, eh? :)

Funnily, or ironically, enough the execution of that video was as annoying as the things they were trying to make fun of :p

well yes..but forcing together cultures can also result in war...the EU project has hardly brought us together..its actually stoking up resentment that didn't exist before the Euro..and it's the worst kind of urban myth about the true intentions of the power brokers...the far right are riding on anti EU feelings...that's a recipe for disaster in anyones books.

We've never been closer in Europe, just look at the people on these forums, plenty of them are Euro types, most of the people I game with online are Euro types. As for culture, strange local festivals aside, we have pretty much the same culture.

There's some differences like ethics, morals, how to say things / take things, but yeah essentially the same.

I usually don't get into politics, but even with its flaws the EU is a project that is one step closer to a unified earth of 2073.

Err i mean unified earth of the future.

Might be a sanctimonious cunt but at least I'm not small-minded, short-sighted, anti-foreigner with a tired and broken thought process that would take europeans back to a dark and dangerous place.

Utter bollocks. 75 years ago we reached the end game of chopping each other up on weekly basis for 3000-odd years. Now we get pissy with each other on Facebook and the Daily Mail is a thing. Not exactly the 30 Years War is it?

Utter bollocks.

Don't think you needed to go any further than that tbh.

It's so obvious it's self-evident. What annoys me is that cunting politicians know this but are putting that europewide peace and stability at risk to win national elections.

Petty powermongering cunts.

I half disagree. Europe needs to change and frankly I would rather we were out of it rather than carry on in the completely undemocratic shitride that it currently is. In fact, I would be happy with a single Euro wide government, if it was democratic.

how short the memories are..this very it can't happen now because it's 2014 is the exact same denial they had in two world wars..the west is in decline all the historic grievances are being tested..the far right has 30% of the vote in the UK and continental Europe is following..the economy is in tatters..debt is astronomical..oh and the immigrants are to blame..you couldn't write a more dangerous scenario..just because it's being played out in full view doesn't mean it can't be sparked off into lunacy.

Do you honestly believe if the EU bankrupts itself Europe will magically declare war on itself? Does it really have to go from one extreme to another? Working as I do with most of Europe (both EU and non EU) I'm not encountering any sentiment along those lines at all, just a general feeling that the EU in its current form is just plain not working, and is actually starting to harm mainland Europe's competitiveness on the global stage.

Based on conversations with my colleagues and customers in Europe, I don't think anyone is suggesting the EU is a bad idea, just that the current implementation is a complete mess. Completely undemocratic and unaccountable, run by strange men in grey suits getting very rich out of it all - the very definition of self serving politicians you spend half your time whinging about. So I really am struggling to understand why you can't see the issue.

Oh yeah, it's because the EU is also the home of the Champagne Socialist, getting nicely rich whilst spending other people's money telling them what to do. Sounds right up your street.

Whilst I agree that the unity of Europe is quite important since states aren't what they used to be in the early 20th century, and there needs to be unification to compete economically and militarily, I believe that Europe is doing it pretty incorrectly.

It's just another added layer of bureaucracy, in all honesty, I really don't under stand why economic alliances can't be achieved without having a parliament running it.

America is more of a buddy to us that 'Europe' I think that continental Europe needs that alliance which pretty much means a unification of Europe, but I think if a European nation pissed off America and America said, look, choose your friends, I don't think it takes a genius to work out who we'd pick, which would undermine the purposes of 'Europe.'

Blah blah blah...
...I was (clearly) responding to what you said, which was:
give it a couple of years and a referendum in Catalonia, the entire lot will come crashing down after the Germans have decided they've had enough of paying for the rest of the basket cases in Europe
The rest of Europe are "basket cases" - rather than countries full of humans governed in slightly different ways (but who cares because they're poorer than us, and they better keep their dirty foreign hands off our shit jobs and money). And in your opinion the whole lot is going to come "crashing down". Which you'd be perfectly happy with because you're the type who wants to take his ball and fuck off home...

Europe's working incredibly well in terms of we're not at war with each other. That trumps any economic argument you care to insert into your actual position of "I want to retreat back to separate countries because I hate foreigners".

More democratic reform? Yep, I'm all for more democracy and transparency. But you don't need to tear it down to build on it's solid foundations.

That solid foundation is freedom of movement and european immigration. The thing UKIP, many Tories, tabloid papers and you would love to see end...
