Someone on my Facebook just posted perhaps one of the most unintentional arty pictures I've seen in a long time, was basically a photo of flowers, chocolate and a thank you card but in the background in a corner was a folded prescription, as I say, probably most likely unintentional but still.

Why would it even matter if it was or wasn't ?

You mean the prescription is chocolate to make you fat and diabetic. Flowere to prick you and make you sneeze and a thank you card for making you a fat sneezing diabetic?

On the subject of Golf, yes it can be somewhat elitist, you can take a debenture in a club that costs 1000's for membership. Any sport at certain levels can be elitist including cycling. Mate of mine just spent $80 USD on handlebars for his lightweight carbon fibre bike that cost close to $5000 USD!!! Set of decent golf clubs like my current Callaway RAZR's cost $600 USD and they are a very good set. Golf may not be accessible to inner city kids but in the country areas where there is not much to do for kids it was one activity on offer.

I learnt to play Golf on a municipal course near Hook in Hampshire which cost around $3 pay and play. I only started again years later with a bunch of guys from work when I was located near Heathrow. Just fun and a couple of bears. Very much military golf (left, right, left, right) and just a good laugh. Hardly elitist.

When I lived in Farnborough it was just so much quicker to get the bus to work. Bus stop 20 metres from my house, took 10 minutes (in good traffic) to drop me off 20 metres from work, for less than the price of parking. It was a no brainer really. Also, excellent rail links to London, Guildford, Basingstoke etc.

It was only when I moved back to Northampton where we basically don't have public transport that I have had to learn to drive.

Did a C++ course years ago at Farnborough TEC and my first job was in Frimley. car to Hook, train to Farnborough, was easier than trying to find parking. :)

We crashed my mates 1.1 popular..bermuda blue..Escort with four of us in it into a 20ft deep drainage ditch..it survived quite well except the rear seat back pulled its bolts through the metal..which was strange.because there was no apparent way to explain what force had done that and the passenger door was jammed..on inspection we found the jack had slid from the boot over the wheel arch and punctured through the body and door to jam it.

I was brought up in Camberley and went to school at Tomlinscote in Frimley. Lived there for years up to college and then a few years later went back after marrying a local girl in Sandhurst...

Divorced now and living in good old Beffnul Green!

Albany Park Estate in Frimley is where my first job was. What was the name of the nightclub at the top of the hill (A30), with the girls dancing in cages? Just chatting with a mate on skype and neither of us could remember the name of it. I was thinking Goldoggers but have a feeling that might be an different club we used to go to.

btw the like was for the living in Surrey, not the divorce :)

My 1st car was a 3 door mk3 Escort 16 ghia, it was great. Wood trim on the door and dash, full fabric on the door cards. wrote it off jumping a red light half asleep at 7.00 in the morning, and hit 3 other cars
Ford Escort Mk II Mexico 1600 engine - vroooom!

Like this one, red but without the extra lights and only had the standard alloys, not the nice ones in the pic.

That was an unwashed pub though wasn't it? Like the Tumble down dick and (whatever the nightclub next door) was called. Both closed down now.

I remember I went in there once and had a red bull and vodka, the weird looking barman crushed the can on his head, I didn't go back again.

Best place in the area has to be the Prince of Wales, up near Farnborough North station, massive selection of beers on offer.

My first car (mine was silver)

Vauxhall-Carlton-Estate-27.05.13-007.jpg

Didn't crash it, just sold it a year later and bought a Volvo 850.

Pantiles was right up the A30 in Bagshot. I think Hawkwind is referring to the Cambridge at the junction of the High St and A30 actually in town... that went through many changes of name of the years, but I think 'The Cambridge' is probably the best known...

There were a lot worse clubs around at the time - Martines in Basingstoke and some club in Andover whose name escapes me for a start.

The academy in Bournemouth was always decent, The Brunel Rooms in Swindon, Paradise in Watford and Goldiggers in Chippenham. Other than those London for was always a good riot on Friday/Saturday night

Pantiles was actually very popular - it had been around for years and was a dance hall back during WW2, believe it or not!

If you wanted to be walking distance in Camberley, then Ragamuffins was the place to be :D

My Granddad used to drink in the Tumble Down Dick in WW2, said it was a good pub back then, was a right dive before it closed.

Was a small world kind of thing as he lived near Northampton his entire life except the war years.

The night club bit of The Cambridge was called 'JW's'

Pantiles was flattened years ago and is now a retirement home, and The Tumbledown Dick is currently being transformed into a McDonalds
