Just watched the new 300 film and the new Sin City film. My god Eva Green can act.

Stupidly hot too.

Saw it the day it came out. Was okay, she was quite good. I did like her eyes (Yes. Eyes.) in the film.

-- Caught a minute of the Crap Factor last night (Was walking past) and they were playing Clubbed to Death by Rob Dougan, not heard that track in years.

I notice all the people who're continuing the "mwaaaaah golf ain't elitist" thread going have steadfastly ignored @DaGaffer's evidence-based post...

Funny how it's easy to ignore something when it doesn't fit in with your desired world-view eh? :)

Sorry I wasn't aware of the evidence, my servant didn't pass that on when he read the post to me. He has been sacked and is now living in the cardboard box from my 150 inch flatscreen.

I hope you're happy.

"Evidence" - I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Erm.
the dictionary said:
evidence
noun
1. that which tends to prove or disprove something

The top 37% of the population by socio economic group have Golf participation rates of about 3%, the remaining 63% have a participation rate of just over 1%

It seems to me that unless you've some other facts and figures that dispute what Gaff's presented then I see no reason to take what his figures at face-value - Freddyshouse being a forum, rather than a court of law.

In the absence of anyone else bringing anything remotely factual to this debate I think that Gaff's post supports his conclusion:
It doesn't mean there aren't more elitist sports, but its a bit silly to deny that golf is basically a middle class (and above) game

Q.E.D? Unless you have other figures m8?

Scouse, get a life.

So when presented with evidence that rebutes your side of a debate... Rather than concede defeat or produce your own evidence... Your response is to resort to insults?

I could make up as many stats as I like. Without links and proof they aren't stats they are crap :)

Stats for participation rates came from a survey done by sports charity Streetgames - here. Its a PDF, which is why I didn't link it. The socioeconomic groupings confused me (because they're not the traditional ABC model), so I had to some more googling and they're the breakdown used in the "Great British Survey" recently done, which gives the breakdown of class types here. The sex split was from a paper put together by KPMG for the "Golf Business Community" (whatever that is), also a PDF, here. There's not much pointing in making stats up when people are just as capable of Googling stuff as I am...

So then - does @DaGaffer's post above do for you, Moriath?

Take into consideration I also pointed out very clearly:
I see no reason to take his figures at face-value - Freddyshouse being a forum, rather than a court of law
So:
So when presented with evidence that rebutes your side of a debate... Rather than concede defeat or produce your own evidence... Your response is to resort to insults?
Stands quite nicely.

Instead of ignoring the facts, or going "mwahhhh they're just 'internet facts' I demand the standards of evidence you get in a court of law if I'm going to accept a change to my world-view', try looking up your own to support your own case - or, alternatively, man up and concede defeat.

Anyway, its pretty unimportant what some useless survey says.

You can play golf for cheap with no dress code.

"Workinglol class" people are just too lazy to play a round of golf, there is no financial reason for them to not play golf, there is no class based reason for them to not play it. You wouldn't want Darren and trace playing at St Andrews for the same reason you don't want them having a kick about at Old Trafford.

Golf could be fun, but it does cost a penny(not a pretty penny, just a penny still) and does take up a lot of time. So it's ore of a "might try one day", then a "would want to try".

@Scouse FYI i rated it funny because that statement is ironic as f*ck.

For what it's worth, I wasn't insulting Scouse, he knows I love him dearly *bum*, but I know he's too busy rolling in cash with far too much time to burn on the internet ;).

Holy fook..just driving across france in a convoy and a full artic jacknifed in front of us..it was going sideways and so was my mate as he braked..it came to a halt backwards jammed into the concrete wall and the driver looked out of the window gave us the gaelic shrug..so we drove round him and carried on...all rather civilised in the end.
