Fair enough. I've only seen the debates and not followed the whole campaign tbh. I actually thought he was a bit more specific than Obama in the debates though. Things like energy independence by a certain date, tax cuts, cutting tax loopholes (which he has a track record of doing i thought), cracking down on Chinese counterfeit goods + their currency devaluation to improve US exports etc.
I can easily see how you could think this because that is exactly what Republican politics is all about: Make your messages and ideas as simple as possible, don't worry about if they work or are true, and then get a pretty face with a reassuring demeanor deliver them for you and aim for people that aren't really playing close attention to politics. The problem with Romney's plan is that yes he says that we will close loopholes in the tax laws to pay for his tax cuts, but when people ask him which loopholes he has been vague at best and the ones he has admitted to wouldn't come close to paying for any kind of tax cut. When he gets called on the fact that his plan is bullshit, he quotes "5 studies that show my plan would work".....failing to mention that three of these "studies" are editorials from the wall street journal (a conservative newspaper) and the other two have been widely refuted.

But unfortunately, this is essentially what politics has become. Scaremongering and misdirection.

Tell the electorate that things are shite. Tell them it's the opposition's fault. Tell them it can be better. Tell them they are the people to do it. That, combined with a sensationalist media, equals a rather clueless electorate.

Same old shit from either of them tbfh.

Obama is just a black George Bush, Romney is just a white Obama.

They're all cunts and it's pointless voting.

Troll.

Not at all.

Scouse does have a point - Obama actually paraphrased one of George Bush Jnrs speeches from his second term campaign for re-election the other day - it was almost word for word - something about 'after 4 years you know me - you dont always agree with me but you know where I stand' .

Scary shit.

This is one of those times where I wish life was a videogame - I'd Save now, then let Romney win just to see how fucked up things get and load back when I'd had my fun / got scared.

Who the fuck votes for a guy that has Sesame Street in his plans to close down so he gets more money?

Big Bird would like a fucking word please.

Romney is full of bullshit, borrow all the money you need from your parents?

He looks like an idiot.

Obama has done the best he can with what he had when he took over as President, 4 years isn't enough to turn a country around financially more like 10 years.

Romney is a joke, everyone saves on taxes but he'll get rid of the trillions of deficit. YEAH OK BUDDY.

The people who vote for him are the rich white people who seem to be having a harder time under Obama. There was some slack jawed yokel on the news saying "THEY TOOK 'UR JRRRRBS" and wants Romney in, lol.

He doesn't stand for anything. None of them do. They're not allowed.

"Guantanmo bay will be closed..."

"Oh, wait. I'm not allowed to do that? Election pledge and everything? What about the courts? Can't we just try people there? Oh no, ok then. Yesssss masssster...."

They reflect the nations populace who dont have any clear idea of what they want and tend to fixate over particular cases and have a short attention span.

When you've got such a diverse population, it's difficult to have any particular direction.

In this day and age of sensationalisation and media assassination, its very difficult to be solid on anything.

I like to think of this glorious age that will probably never exist where leaders are wise men who we can trust to make the right decisions - and who we let make those decisions.

The biggest pile of bullshit is the electoral college voting system which was designed from day one to boost the voting power of states with smaller populations but bigger financial clout and to ensure the idiot masses don't vote for the 'wrong' candidate.

Well I've got £4k on Obama to win @ 1.22 with an exit trade at 1.11 to give me a final win of about £600 if he wins and £0 if Romney wins.

I've bought Obama at a low price, and if he gets one or two swing states early doors, I'll be able to sell him at a higher price and guarantee a profit of 600 quid or so. Right now I have a £4k liability on Romney - as in if Obama loses this election, I lose 4 grand.

In reality, if the betfair odds move against me I'll trade out to reduce my loss to 100-200. No chance I'm letting it go all the way wrong.

1.25 now and 1.27 not 10 minutes ago. Trading out at 1.27 is -£200.

For reference, Intrade (similar principle to betfair but is permitted in the US) have had Obama at >1.36 all day.

Your numbers are also off, trading out at 1.11 is +£418 gross of commission.
