Did Niobe die in the Sentinal attack? Inside the Matrix the power plant blew up, then we never saw her again. I know one of the ships was bombed for definate - but it wasn't the Logos that picked them up at the end... I'd assumed she was fried like the rest, but I'm not sure now.

Nope, Niobe and Ghost and Sparks survive. They blow up the powerplant, then make like a tree and get the hell out of there.

It's neither confirmed/denied in reloaded as far as I remember, but it is in the game. They outrun some sentinels, then hide somewhere. Niobe is sure someone will find them, then the revolutions trailer plays, then Ghost says "Whelp, it's nice to have something to look forward to" "It is indeed" replies Niobe.

It's very tacky and lame, and they pair can't act for toffee.

whoever said alliya died while making it was wrong she died before. She was replaced by jada pinkitt(smith as in will)I think so there'll be no problem there. One thing I'm not sure of is that 'the oracle' is dead( the actress) but I'm not sure about whether she died after filming the third or not.

In philosophy the idea that nothing exists is a really old one and(I'm not sure but still :p) is not to be taken literally.

As far as I'm concerned science fiction doesn't need to be feasible just believable. Also since just recently some scientist measured 'negative presence' so as far as anything scientific is concerned don't be too cocky :p

Anyone wait around to see the trailer?
waste of time IMHO the fight where neo and smith line up(with a cround of smith) looked kind fun.

The problem, as I said, is that the Matrix tries to pass itself off as something that could happen. If it wants to step in to the realm of Science Fantasy then that's fine. Sure you could say "in the future, perhaps". This film specifically tries to explain why the machines are keeping mankind enslaved, unfortunately it breaks a fundimental rule of physics and thus is slightly more difficult to take seriously.

Sure, you can say "it's just a film fgs" and it is, but there's no denying that the explanation is a crock of shite.

The idea that nothing exists is not used in philosophy at all because the thinker at least must exist. 'Cogito ergo sum'. Thank you Descartes.

However the idea that nothing else besides you exists is very old. It's called solipsism. It is meant to be taken seriously though.

The method of systematic doubt is NOT meant to be taken in the same way though. It says that you should start only from the things you cannot doubt and build up your system of knowledge from these facts. Your basic start then would be that you exist in some form.

Descartes moved on from here by trying to prove that a benevolent God exists by logic alone. From here he could say that God would not allow our senses to deceive us therefore the world exists. If you want an essay on that argument I've got several lying around in my loft :)

Aaliyah died after shooting started. She was playing Zee, not Niobe, and was replaced by Nona Gaye. Gloria Foster died whilst filming Reloaded/Revolutions, so they cut her scenes slightly and did a rewrite in Revolutions to explain her non-presence.

C- for effort I'm afraid.

I'd like to read Wij but I'm waiting for him to come out in paperback.

I'd be interested in reading the philosophical essays too Wij, if you wouldn't mind.

...oh.

:/

I was led to believe solipsism was not to be taken seriously and was purely metaphorical. I suppose thats what you get when you get all your knowledge from a bill bailey joke. :)

Currently my essays and dissertations and random musings only exist in printed form. My old 486 Hard Drive (which also had my 60 Wolfenstein levels which had heads on spikes and pentagrams drawn in blood on walls long before anyone had heard of Doom, iD copying bastards  ) was dead when I checked it a few months back. Maybe I'll type em up one day when I'm bored :)

P.S. It also had a huge secret bit in one of the levels which you got to from a toilet cubicle that was full of toilets, two of which would actually chase you :D

Happy days...

Essays are all a bit pretentious.

Come down to earth and tell us how you feel properly :)

I get the feeling that Scooba doesn't like me. Not that I've ever purposely insulted him (without provocation), or belittled his posts in any way.

So I guess what he says must be true.

Oh Well.

Of course not, but I don't think I've ever mentioned my job when it wasn't somehow pertinent to the subject matter being discussed. Just because I don't work with computers (unlike most people in here) doesn't mean I can't talk about it, does it?

Scooba seems to just dislike me, well fine, not much I can do about that unfortunately.
