Haha. Personal insults for a differing opinion. I expect nothing less from a christian.

You really have become a small minded twat over the last couple of years, i would very rarely insult someone online or in my daily life.

Sharp tongued pricks on the internet just scream of someone who is getting shit from someone in their day to day life, this isn't a forum to take it out on other people.

er...he insulted me.

He's only mad because I said Villa weren't a big club anyway.

Once again... They ate not making three films from the hobbit. They are making three Lotr films in which the "hobbit" story is part of.

They shouldn't call it The Hobbit then.

Lord of the Rings was a story written by Tolkien. The Hobbit was a story written by Tolkein.

The film "The Hobbit" is a bastardisation of a number of things, with a lot of original material to be provided by a beardy NewZealander.

It's definitiely a cynical moneyspinner. It may be enjoyable, but it's certainly not going to be Tolkein in anything other than "flavour"...

To be fair, Turamber did insult Raven first.

I disagree with Raven's interpretation of the Silmarillion but I wouldn't call him a retard for holding that opinion, which is what Turamber did.

I'd just think it... ;)

I agree with that. I feel dirty :D

I don't like Raven, he's a knob. Sorry.

I don't know what everyone's moaning about. The three LOTR films were one of the best cinematic experiences I've ever had. I hated the 12 month wait between each one but none of them were disappointing.

I expect Jackson to do a stellar job with The Hobbit. I remember the chills on my spine as Bilbo descended into the dragon's lair, hopefully the film(s) will be just as good.

The first was good second awful and the third disappointing.

I cant stand the panning landscape shots anymore - reminds me of march of the penguins...

I'm with Tom, I can't wait.

Three films is a lot, but to be honest, there are a lot of different themes in the book - if you made a movie to include all of them without any pause it'd seem like a pretty random mix.

Silmarillion is awesome, I'd love to see some of those storylines on the big screen :)

I just hope Jackson doesn't get carried away like he did with the end of Return of the King, that dragged.

I hope not. And I also hope singing will be a minimum. That said...I did miss Tom Bombadil in LOTR...

You misunderstand me Tom.

I'm hoping it'll be great and I very much enjoyed LOTR as well. The fact that it's going to be 3 films is a double-edged sword - we're going to hopefully get 3 great films in a fantastic universe.

It just won't be "the hobbit". It'll be less the hobbit than LOTR was Lord of the Rings. They had a great flavour of Tolkein - but that was it. A flavour.

The fact that it's 3 films is still a shameless monetary consideration - they could have just filmed the hobbit. So whilst I'm hoping they're going to be great I'm also skeptical - because pursuit of cash has a poor track record of making things better.

I was mates with the manager of my local multiplex so I managed to get in on the midnight test screening for each of the films. The cinema had to run the test once to be sure the reels were merged in sequence and the right way round. This meant playing the film on 3-4 screens simultaneously. Good job too because the second reel of Two Towers was upside-down and playing backwards first time around in our screen. We were all shuffled into the next screen to carry on watching it the right way up. :)
There's something special about sitting in a half-full screen, good friends around, eating pizza and drinking beer at midnight.
I'm glad I saw all three LOTR films like that.

imdb suggests Frodo will be in it, and Billy Connolly as one of the dwarves? o_O

i had no idea it was going to be three movies until i saw this thread, so errrr, whats the second one about if the first one is about the events in The Hobbit?

I do hope Frodo isn't in it. He's not in The Hobbit at all.

The 3 films are going to cover the wider story of the goings on in Middle Earth, Ormorof, like Aoami says "Peter Jackson presents: Middle Earth" may be a better title. The Hobbit is simply the core story, but there'll be Gandalf, Radagast, Saruman etc, pissing off to deal with the Necromancer in his tower and other side-bar stories that were only hinted at in asides and wider reading...

He could be in a flashforward scene, you know, where the screen goes all wobbly and the actors look all thoughtful.
Just an idea, ring me Jacko..my usual fee.

Not really, not at all, the guy wants to maximize his profits, what's wrong with that? - If he does a good job of it, I don't care if it's 3 parts, OMFG STARWARS COULDVE EASILY BEEN 1 FILM.

Can't wait :) I think Peter Jackson will pull it off again. The only thing I'm sad about if the feeling I'll have when it's over and the knowledge I won't see another good fantasy film on the screen for a very very long time.
