Had to have been a good race. Father phoned today and whilst chatting he mentioned he sat and watched more than the last half of the race and enjoyed it. . . he wasnt planning too, just was on when having lunch and he got sucked into it. lol. He not watched a race in years

Has certainly been a good year in terms of the racing, except the usual tracks that is.

been better when vettel wasnt miles ahead in many of them.. think second half of season will be alot better. As much as I want mclaren to do the job, i got a hunch ferrari may be the main contenders as we proceed, dunno why but just feel that

If that's the case then Alonso will have to do it on his own imo, Massa just isn't back to his brilliant best yet. Hamilton + Button + a good McLaren > Alonso in a Ferrari. I still think Vettel's gonna romp it though. :(

So it's official, as from next year the BBFuckwits are only showing HALF the races, with the full thing being broadcast on Sky Sports.

How utterly wank and pointless, especially as they've been pulling record viewing figures this year.

I'm quite annoyed by this. I am going to have to subscribe to sky sports now. Stupid descision.

Typical BBC, half-arsed plan. But Bernie's a twat as well because he said he had a policy of no pay-tv deals for F1.

Does this mean a return of the dreaded commercial breaks? :(

And yeah, I thought the whole reason this recent takeover discussion sounded so preposterous was because Bernie said F1 would always stay on free TV...

Bernie is full of shit and cares only for the money. Figures will probably drop, because not everyone can afford Sky TV and it's sports channels.

The BBC simply haven't got the money to fund Bernies Greed Machine. It was inevitable really which is a real shame as their coverage has been excellent.

I think it would be more sensible for BBC to give it up entirely under these circumstances, this mish mash approach doesn't do anyone any favours.

he will argue it is still on free tv, and that it not his choice.

Apparently though it was always likely that bbc would drop it, it was the most expensive show in regards to the cost:viewers ratio and was costing about £1 per viewer, when most shows cost just pennies per viewer.

From that point of view you can see why they would do it, BUT, it still a stupid decision because they waste so much money on crap that hardly gets seen... but nope, they would rather use the F1 money to keep bbc four going with its nothingness :(

Sure I have sky sports for the football and this mean it be used outside of the football season more, but still a shame as i like the BBC stuff and I just hope sky do not put adverts on all the time... i definately be watching it on BBC for the races they show if that is the case.

what i dont understand though... they had purchased the rights until the end of the 2013 season before this deal, so they cutting that deal short as well instead of keeping it going. Now that clearly isnt down to Bernie and money grabbing as the costs wouldnt have changed, it seems a case of the bbc just not wanting to fund one their biggest viewed shows

I was about to say that this is a huge advert for morally correct piracy.

only showing 1/2 the races on BBC is a load of bull shit, might aswel not show it all.

Its like cutting a football match off at 45mins :/

er surely they mean half the seasons races, not half each race? or that would be a really moronic thing for the bbc to bid for?

At this rate BBC will be left with various highlights and horse racing, which of course is on C4 at the same time.

The silly thing is that a few weeks ago, there was a big fuss about Newscorp wanting to take over F1, and the fact that it'd see the TV rights go straight to Sky. Now what do they do? give Sky the rights anyway! Madness...
I'm certainly not paying for Sky Sports just to watch F1, would sooner go without.

Well it rules out murdoch buying F1 though, think it was always a case of own or show with him. There is still plenty of money to be made from the sport and if they can pull in even half the bbc numbers then they will make a mint out of the adverts they show before and after the race.
Can see their numbers being awful when it is on BBC though as I just cant see how they could better the lineup that bbc has..... only plus side for sky is there be no Jake Humpherys or whatever, he annoys me most the time

News Corp are still trying to buy F1.

Luckily for me I sub to Sky Sports (for the PL) so will not be affected by this. On the other hand I would be so fucked off with the BBC, Bernie and Sky. At least the only saving grace is no adverts.... ITV was fucking awful with adverts.

It was either keep wimble+f1, and get rid of bbc4, or cut costs in licensing.

The BBC are fucking pillocks sometimes.

As for Hungary, I think I would rather be in Button's position than Hamilton's tbh... there's a notorious difference between clean and dirty sides on the start\finish straight at the 'ring. Such a great track though. :)

What the fuck is ever one BBC4? BBC3 is a stretch at the best of times.
