By winning the league cup they got into the europa cup, winning that meant they were in the champions league. So a direct result of winning the league cup gave the team the opportunity to get to the cham league this year. Sigh.

Well that's a pretty long-winded path. In between winning the League Cup and getting into the Champions League you also have to play the qualifying round and then compete in and win an entire other tournament.

No they didn't. They got into the Europa league because they came 5th in the league in 2015/16. They won the league cup last year, same year as the Europa League win.
