I think his point was you utterly unrelated to yours and he probably didn't want to consider yours so de ided to make it about liverpool, rather than football in general.
Fixed :)

Really not. Liverpool are positively 1%ers compared to most other football clubs (not just in the UK, but anywhere), and Rogers does buy a lot of crap. They're just unfortunate to be in league where "Fenway Sports"-rich, isn't "oligarch/arab" rich. Maybe they should relocate Liverpool to Portugal or something.

NB. Liverpool will be on a similar or better financial level to Arsenal once they finally finish expanding Anfield. But Rogers will still be buying shit.

Rodgers, who I like, really has bought utter garbage. He wasted the Suarez money. Balotelli, Markovic etc, what was he thinking? On the other hand he gave Sterling a chance sooner than he would of got I guess.

...and wasted most of the money he made on Sterling (way over the odds) on Benteke, who they will likely sell on in a couple of years for around 15 mil.

Yes really. I wasn't talking about Liverpool. I was talking about the metric fuckton of teams in the league - and not just the premier league. The financial inequalities make winning a closed shop.

I agree with you on Rogers - I've never liked him as a manager. Said that from the start - so @Raven's not getting his argument there.

The point was made that it's "hard to predict who's going to win the league" - but no. It isn't. You've got a 25% chance of getting it right if you go in blind.

Well, yeah it can be picked from a handful of teams (but so can any league, most have fewer teams with a chance!) but on a Saturday anything can happen.

Money is only a small part of it, put Brenda (to pick on him again) in charge of Chelsea or City and they would get nowhere near winning the prem.

Lol. No it fucking isn't.

Teams generally end up within a few places of their spending power. Money is nearly all of it. It'd be highly unlikely that Maureen would be able to take Everton and have them break into the Champion's League. Not impossible - statistical flukes do happen - but *very* highly unlikely.

Money is 90% - plus - of football.

Crystal palace spending power las t year? Qpr ? I think qpr spent a lot more.

Liverpool after suarez spent more than southampton?

How can you be so sure benteke will flop?

He might do OK, I reckon maybe 15 goals, but 33million OK? Not a chance, he is a capable mid table club forward and that's it.

The liverpool bashing is so boring. It was funny about 5 years ago, now it just old and tiresome. I dont see whats wrong with their signings? They have strengthened where they need to and for a club without champions league football, who did you expect them to sign? Ronaldo and Messi? They are doing the best they can. If they hadnt signed Firmino and Benteke and instead, signed some randoms with less calibre everyone would have said "lolol Firmino and Benteke were available and you didnt sign them". If liverpools signings gel (and this is always a gamble, no matter who you sign), they can certainly challenge for top 4 on paper.

No Benteke is and will be a good signing if he doesn't get injured.

Ronaldo > Messi by a mile. Messi would shit his pants in the premier league but Ronaldo has done well here, when he was a kid as well.

To be fair, his strike rate at Villa is pretty good (1 every 2 games), so you'd assume with better midfield service he should do alright.

He did well there because he had decent crosses coming in. Not something he will get at Liverpool. He is a square peg for a round hole.

I don't agree, Henderson, Milner, Coutinho, Firminho will all provide him good service, far better than he got at Villa. Injury free he will get at least 25 goals.

This is a bit of a myth based on one Tim Sherwood interview; statistically he's scored slightly below average from crosses compared to the overall goals from crosses number for the Prem. He likes crosses, but 2/3 of his goals have come from elsewhere. Now its true Liverpool aren't a wide team like United, but overall they've got a much better midfield than Villa have fielded in Benteke's time there. Proof will be in the pudding, but I'd definitely tag him as a big step up from Balotelli and Lambert.

No one really knows how many goals hes going to score but he certainly is an improvement on what Liverpool already have.

He is but they could have done far better for the money. Liverpool still have an attraction because joking aside, they are still a massive club capable of contending.

Who? They were talking about this on the Guardian podcast yesterday. Where have all the great strikers gone? This is the same problem for United and Arsenal; where's that galactico 30 goal guy? Well we know, they're all playing for Real and Barca.

Harry Kane looks like the real deal but he's got one good season behind him and wouldn't go to Liverpool, who are basically the northern Spurs, anyway. Who else, Berahino? Maybe, but Benteke is more proven.

That will depend on Brenda. Liverpool Football like ours is not built around crossing the ball regularly. So will Brenda change Liverpool's tactics to suite Benteke or will he expect Benteke to adapt and play the Liverpool way. I still think he will do fine as he did not just score headers for Villa his hold up play was also very good so Cortina running on could benefit a lot. I predict 30 goals goals / assists for him the ratio will depend on him or the club adapting.

Me too! And you lot don't have De Gea tomorrow!

Yeah and rightly so, shouldn't play him until Real go away for now or we sell him.

Romero is a decent keeper and will do well, but I'm really baffled by the Valdes saga. He would have been great as a number 1 or 2.
