I also saw that United have actually agreed to buy Falcao for € 65m but they are dancing merrily around FFP regs by having him on loan for a season first or something.

Falcao to Chelsea, or Falcao to Citeh (which was the rumour yesterday) were both bad news stories for United. Getting him plays well with the markets (who know nowt about football, why do you think they floated in New York?) and isn't a bad deal in itself, especially with Hernandez off to Real and Welbeck probably away as well. Yes they need defenders, but who? Most of the candidates floating around aren't much better than the ones they have (if they could have got Hummels, different story, maybe next year). Its also fairly obvious that LVG is waiting to get Strootman in January rather than take a chance on a crocked Vidal now.

Its going to be a very strange first half to the season but as some of the players come back from injury things should get better.

(Feel free to throw this back in face in May if it all goes horribly tits up).

I think considering the competition for the top four spots this year it might be difficult to get CL qualification with Giroud out with a thin squad playing so many competitions.
