Lol, what evidence do you have to back that up?

You don't have the potential for the Champions League, you aren't even in the Europa League and Fulham are.

Randy Learner is still forcing you to sell players. Remind me why did Martin O'Neill leave?

You have a bigger stadium but that's about it when it comes to bigger.

Even I will agree that Villa are one of the biggest clubs in the country. Historically and currently. Despite there current predictament they are still a much bigger draw then Fulham. Similiarly in the way that Southampton in League One was still a big draw for some players.

Hmm, where is Mark Hughes now? :m00:

Trying to get the Chelsea Job while knowing he can get the Aston Villa job if things go wrong, would be my guess.

Villa are a fixture in the Premier League, average position is 5th and best finish was 2nd with a number of 4th place finishes. Fulham have only been in the Premier since 2001 and their best position is 7th.

You came 2nd in the first year of the Premier League 92/93 season. You have come 4th just once in the 95/96 season. Is 10 years not enough to be considered established in the league?

Outside our ground we have a statue of our former Director who implemented the first football league in the world. Fulham have a statue of Michael Jackson, who went to a football match once.

Whats your point? That Aston Villa are 5 years older than Fulham? Or that Fulham's owner is slightly mad? The fact remains that Fulhams owner has supported investment in the club and hasn't interfered with what the manager does.

Villa's ground is nearly twice as big as Fulham's.

You don't fill it though. Your average attendance is about 50% higher than Fulhams. Fulham's stadium has needed significant improvements and that is happening.

Villa received an award from the English FA for providing the most players to the English football team since it was created. Check out the number of Villa players in the England squad in the next game.

What a fantastic achievement, I am sure a proud Welsh man will be proud to continue that... Fulham received the fair play award and are in Europe next season, again. Also shall we check the number of English players in the Aston Villa squad now and by the end of the transfer window?

There is no comparison between the two clubs frankly ^^

You are almost as deluded as a Liverpool supporter then. 20 - 30 yeas ago you may have been correct but a lot has happened in that time. Over the last few season Fulham have achieved more than Aston Villa and if I was a manager that wanted to prove myself capable of managing a Champions league team I would either stick with Fulham, secure a solid place in the premier league and aim to go on some good cup runs, or I would manage a foreign team, where the league has fewer teams with vast wealth. The best Aston Villa can hope for next season is what 7th?

So Cadelin if we go off recent achievements then I'm correct (according to your logic) that the likes of Wigan, Bolton etc are much bigger clubs then Leeds, Forest, Sheff Wed, Southampton and so forth?

If you take a managing job you're not going to look at what a club has won 20+ years ago really are you?

Defination of "BIG" is the problem. Everyone defines big differently. Depends how far you want to go back in time to class a team as big. One that hasnt managed anything recently but done something 10-20 yrs ago, doesnt mean it remains a "big" club. They may never achieve it again and it is only getting harder for the smaller clubs

That would be brilliant. Not enough British managers go abroad. I see his lack of CL experience being a sticking point for Bayern though.

Yep "Big" is used as a catch all, Villa as a team have more History than a lot of teams now who maybe more successful over the last 10 years. But if you only follow Success then Birmingham is a "Bigger" club than Arsenal after beating us in the final.

Its like forest they have won a cup that Arsenal and Chel$ki never have so they once were a massive club but now they are not a "Big" club.

Villa made the League Cup final and FA Cup semi final not to long back didn't they? They have a far better calibre of players and despite this season had consistently finished around the top 6 for the past 4 or so season. They are the bigger club, Fulham will always be in that mid-table group of clubs, not big, not small. For Hughes Fulham was always the way back on to the managerial ladder.

I don't mind Fulham, but they have a glass ceiling. Mocking Villa because we only have a 50% bigger average attendance and because Fulham qualified for European competition by giving away less fouls is pretty silly really, but also the strongest arguments you have.

We all love our clubs, but managers go where they can be paid more and raise their profile. I agree that Hughes is probably hoping for the Chelsea job but the Villa job would certainly raise his profile too. Fulham are a nice little club who potter along in their own little way.

15th June for the final, what an atmosphere it'll be. If anyone watch Penarol they are awesome and deserve some backing considering their squad is pretty gash on paper but their spirit and determination whilst playing good football is loveable and they are Uruguayan :D. But Santos with their talents of Neymar, Elano etc etc should make for a really entertaining match. Shame no Ganso though :(.

I am not mocking Villa, I am mocking you. But lets focus on the original question:

Why would Mark Hughes want to come to Villa?

To which you answered:

Much bigger club, more money, more potential.

After some bollocks about big clubs you have been forced to finally admit:

I agree that Hughes is probably hoping for the Chelsea job but the Villa job would certainly raise his profile too.

This was the original point I was making. Chelsea are the big club here and what Hughes is actually hoping for. Villa has just as much of a glass ceiling preventing them breaking into the top 4 as Fulham. If you want to raise your profile they key is to win things (or do well) there is less chance of him doing that at Villa as you aren't in Europe.

Fulham are a nice little club who potter along in their own little way.

I think you are confusing Fulham with Stoke, an easy mistake to make as they will also be playing in Europe next season.

Send me to South America now, what an atmosphere.

Copa Libertadores final is going to be epic.

Penarol of Uruguay vs Santos of Brazil. There shall be some quality football on show there.

About 1999 I went to a fluminese v Flamengo game. Holy...Shit. It was unbelievable. The Nou camp has the best atmosphere Ive ever experienced, but this wasnt far off, albeit in a different way.
