Give Bent time Keitz, he needs to settle into the set up. As Aoami said, he's got the ability, and he got into the positions needed to score. He was wasted first half, they didn't play to his strengths.

It's incredible how quickly we vilify players for one or two mistakes as a nation.

Yeah Bent should be given time, it was the passing from midfield that was poor today and just seemed lost playing it out of defence so after a while it just got punted into nowhere.

walcott still seems to get into good positions and then just panic and not make up his mind about what to do with it.

dont know whether Parker was tired or trying too hard but he looked off the pace.

young looked good when he came on.

This has been our problem for far too many years now.

Backed. Bent is a top quality striker and the best we have at the moment. His record speaks for itself. He didn't have his best game today, but the whole team was crap. Wilshere and Young aside, though, I'd say he was one of the better performers in the team for sure.

I think England have some really great players coming through, but it's time to start building the side around them and not your Ferdinands, Terrys, Lampards, Gerrards. Sure, their experience is valuable but I'd really like to see players like Gary Cahill, Andy Carrol, Leighton Baines, Michael Dawson, Adam Johnson et al get proper runs in the team.

It's a real shame Rooney was banned today, with his form and passing from behind the striker, Bent would have had loads. It would have allowed Young and Walnut lot's of space on the flanks as well with the defence stretched to cover the four of them.

I agree we've got real talent on the wings and attack, the competition for places is ridiculous, and young players all. I worry about central midfield (Wilshire aside).

Adam Johnson instead of Walcott, young left side, rooney bent up top.

Walcott is not consistent enough.

After today, I really hope Ashley Young moves to a better team, may it be Man Utd or Liverpool or anyone else, he deserves it.

Undoubtedly he will be, rumours are something is agreed with United already and will be announced next week. Not sure it is a good move without a manager in situ but that didn't stop them kicking out about six players last week.

Have really enjoyed watching Young, he is a very exciting player and works hard too. He falls over easily, though, and winds up opposition fans. He also takes a lot of very poor set pieces and fails to clear the first man with his crossing way too often. Hopefully with some proper coaches (i.e. above the level of Houllier and co) he will pick his game up again.

Btw, getting out of Wembley is so stupid :p

Yep, the price that supporters have to pay for the very political decision of having to have the national team's ground in the capital. Would have been much better to have had it in the Midlands.

Nothing to do with that, if Keitanz is going the way I think he is then he was stood in the queueing system the Police set-up to get to the tube station at the end of Wembley way. I think it's to stop the station being overcrowded but they basically let people into the station in stages and have various checkpoints down Wembley Way.

It's annoying as hell as you can see the station but can't get there any quicker as a bloody great police horse is in the way

Indeed, got stuck in the same place last year -- and I was staying in a hotel in Wembley, wasn't even going on the tube!

The best way to travel there is by coach, they get away pretty quickly although they do sit on the main roads for ages along with every other bugger in London.

Just so everyone is on the same page, let us start the 2011/2012 thread on the 1st July if that is ok with all? Europa League starts rougly around then, pre-season friendlies a week or so later. Transfers should be running pretty hot by then, a good place to start our next 12 months of footytalk! :D

The whole Wembley thing is stupid. They could of sold the land the current stadium is built on and funded the whole project in the midlands. With our transport infrastructure it would have worked fine. But now they have wasted billions every little game has to be played there. The friendly games rotating round the country was a good thing.

Only if we reach page 1000 by that time ( only 2 to go though).

but no one wants to go to the midlands :(

i agree that Wembley was absurdly expensive though, and considering how poor the pitch has been already it seems odd that they then continue with American football and big concerts just days before big England games
