Adriano is stealing a living as a Barcelona player, hes about as good as Sagna

Name a better defensive right back in the EPL.

There isn't. He just can't cross for shit. Probably our most consistent player, but never gets any credit because he goes about his job quietly and well.

Disgraceful refereeing. We were poop for sure, but the last 25 mins with 11 men would have been much more interesting. Shame for Szczesny. Almunia did well when he came on though.

Honestly can't ever recall such a nonsense sending off in such an important game. It happens every single match, and it's never carded, even on ones that are clearly (not incredibly marginal) played on with the knowledge it should be stopped.

As I said on facebook, the respect campaign can now gobble on my cheesey cock, it's not worth shit. Referees don't have a fecking clue.

Branislav Ivanovic. Next question.

Feel your pain for tonight though, Euro refs fucking love Barca. It is fucking sickening.

I don't know, I thought Arsenal soaked it up pretty well, some very tidy tackling and great goal keeping. If it wasn't for the red card it could have gone either way. The few times Arsenal did manage to get forward, I didn't think Barca looked that great, especially in the last 15 minutes ...discounting the keepball. If they hadn't brought on a pretend footballer they could have grabbed one.

Hitting the vinegar strokes bout now pal

His goal was droolworthy, thought he smashed against Almunia at first, but the fact he actually lifted it up over him to volley was quality. On the night I thought Iniesta was pap tbh. Wilshere had another solid performance for the Arse imho also.

From Cesc's twitter - "Great support from the arsenal fans. I take full blame for the result tonight. One of the worst moments of my life. I apologise."

Ah fuck...now I feel bad for him.

Horrific decision by the ref, but i think it would have been a greater injustice for Barca to go out. Messi had a perfectly good goal disallowed at the Emirates, one of the most obvious penalties in the first half of this game and Busquets putting the ball into his own net.

Some people above saying Barca were average?? They dominated the best attacking team in the EPL right from the start. Arsenal hardly put 5 passes together let alone a shot. They had one chance from a Barca mistake... unfortunately Bendtner is a chronical of narnia. I thought Iniesta was great, fantastic feet and pass for Messi's goal.

Arsenal had almost an hour with 11 men on the pitch, they didnt manage a single shot on target. Kinda hard to say if all 11 stayed on the pitch that they could have got the result.

Think it was always likely that Barca would get the 2nd goal even with 11 on the pitch, though it was a joke sending off.

Think that the ref took 2 bribes. One from each team.
1st half he backed Arsenal by not giving a clear penalty
2nd half he backed Barcelona

Difference was that we were ahead in the tie, we didn't need to go forward. With 11 men Barca only had a couple of decent chances, despite having lots of possession. It really opened up 11v10.

Regardless of what would have happened, the referee ruined the game and the chance of a fair match.

Anyone agree with the commentators when they say this Barca side are the best club team ever? I certainly can't think of a better team (by that i mean relative to other clubs at the time) since I've been watching football.

Maybe they just play particularly well against Arsenal? Or is it like that for every team?

Spanish sides, Arsenal and most non-italian top teams kinda play into a style that suits barcelona. If you try to attack them, then they can rip you apart pretty quickly because they will sit in the gaps you leave. As is with all the pace and skill in the team you are left wide open.

Teams that fill in the gaps and pack the midfield give barcelona a harder time because they dont really do the "cross to the box" tactic, they slip the passes around and so if you block it all up they can be unstuck

<edit: that said, they are a formidable team with puyol and Pique in the centre back positions. So possibly they the best because of the increased defence ability compared to some other past teams<

WTF are you talking about. Liverpool were in the relegation zone for 3 games:

(Stolen off bookies site which is why Sunderland are there)

Glen Johnson :D I'm joking, Sagna is class..

Do you really think that Van Persie staying on would have mattered much though?

No. To many eras to comment on. What about

Milan of the 90s?
94-95 Ajax?
Di Stefano/Puskas Real Madrid?
Magic Myagars Honved?

Different eras, if we went to the 60s/70s then this Barcelona side would get the shit kicked out of them and wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Barce on there day are deadly, but they have a mist around them currently and some god awful referee decisions go there way. Need we not forget they pretty much were raped by Chelsea over 2 legs, with only some absolute shocking decisions getting them through. I'm also of the belief that Guardiola is not a great manager at all, most of his signings have been pitiful, you could put Gary Megson in charge of the players at Barce and storm anything.
