So we should have a sell out stadium every week to be recognised and compete, rubbish. Your usual propaganda.

One would expect the team which has the most local fans would be filled week in week out, not be half empty...especially when the tickets are so cheap.

Well, I actually live in Manchester. Week in, week out I have to put up with the bullshit from City fans about how 'Manchester is ours' even though they know it to be a complete fabrication. You only have to go over the historical attendances before cheap inter-city travel to see that United have always had a very large local support, whereas City had a great support in the 1950's that has fallen away decade after decade.

Now, the reason I posted the figures is also to show how much of an uphill struggle the owners are going to have to ever make that club a viable business. The losses are staggering and growing by the day, if UEFA are good to their word then there is no way City can comply with financial fair play by the deadline. What happens then? Barred from Europe? Massive wagebill and players who want CL football? Are the owners going to keep pumping hundreds of millions in?

City are not viable as it stands, they don't have the fanbase to fund the level of football that they desire, also the fans don't and never have spent on merchandise at the levels of fans from the other top clubs. So, how do the owners grow a club that can't even sell tickets for £15/£1 to a city with a population of 2.6 million? Not baiting, just looking for an honest answer.

I'm from Crumpsall originally. You should be used to the banter.

We have never been one of the "pop star" teams as regards merchandise.
As regards the financial fair play, we have 2years to comply same as everyone. If we don't what are the penalty's? Will Uefa enforce them?
From a business pov ofc we are going to get continuing investment the same as any young business.

Can't the owners just create false revenue streams to get around the rules? For example paying over the top for advertising with another company they own.

Actually the banter levels have gone off the chart since your lot became monied, even Noel Gallagher spews forth the same shite when he knows it is a complete fabrication. Only Jason Manford has been honest so far and admitted there are loads of United fans in Manchester, the cheeky fucker actually said we are like rats and you are never more than 3 feet from one. :D

On the business side, you are getting far more investment than is sustainable because the owners are trying to win silverware and grow the fanbase that way. Basically replicating the Chelsea model but with even larger sums of money. The difference is that Chelsea can command high ticket prices (partly due to location and mainly due to level of football on offer) and still fill the stadium whereas City can not, Chelsea still lose alot of money every year too and need another decade of success to grow the club to a size where they can turn a profit.

UEFA have said they will enforce the rules, I think there is a good chance they will just create loopholes to allow Chelsea and City to carry on but I am not sure that is a good thing for the health of football. Clubs cannot be allowed to run at £100 million losses season after season, eventually there will be a price to be paid.

No. There are other built in loopholes to allow clubs to slowly meet the regs - but even then I can't see City doing it, given their wages alone!

Again, if you haven't read the swissrambler blog on the fairplay regs, then you bloody well should. Right now.

Uefa have the right to disqualify any income which is not realistic. They stated that if sponsorship from a related company is over market value then they will reduce the allowed income for UEFA competition qualifying means to that which is deemed a realistic value.

And UEFA will happily enforce the rules if it means an English club fails to meet the qualification rules :p

Cho's been texting the BBC again;

From Pri in Manchester via text: "To Matt in Stoke - if you watch live Utd games you will see how much Carrick does in protecting the back four. We hardly ever concede goals when Carrick is playing. He is an essential part of Fergie's team."
