Manchester City have sent scouts to watch Porto's Brazilian striker Hulk, who has scored nine goals this season.
Full story: Daily Mirror

seriously if this is true, just lol. They're aiming to be the first club ever to have had every striker in the world to play for them at one stage in their life.

p.s. Santa cruz seems like a good investment, bought for £17m worth like £3m now. That's a great return. xD

Didn't he say if he left he wanted to challenge for titles? :twak:

all we need is a keeper that can actually save something, and not make retard decisions, whereas what do you need? pretty much a whole new team xD

They are further away now than they have ever been imo. United have the squad and good income, City have the squad and an obscenely rich sugar daddy, Chelsea have the squad plus good income and a sugar daddy. Not forgetting Arsenal with a big stadium and mad season ticket prices giving them very healthy finances.

Liverpool don't have a great squad although a few great players, they don't have a great manager although a good manager, they don't have a massive stadium and the new owners are not putting in a huge transfer budget so Hodgson is going to have to be very selective where he spends. I am not saying it is impossible for them to win the EPL, that would be foolhardy but I don't see it happening unless some big changes happen in everything I listed above.

I reckon that Liverpool's current squad is better than the one 2-3 seasons ago, and the owner has apparently said in an interview with the BBC that he will give Hodgson 40m to spend this January/Summer.

He is a bit deluded ofc, but!

Lucas is starting to become really good.
Meireless.
N'gog is becoming a good backup to Torres (and can play with him).

Lucas/Meireless seems to work better (from the few appereances together) than Lucas/Alonso or Lucas/Mascherano did. Not gonna compare it to Alonso/Mascherano tho as I really really liked that combo.

Imho we really need a LB, CB and a _proper_ winger or two (without losing any more important players) :). This will make us a proper team again (not gonna say that it is a league winning team but it will be alot more stable and consistent imho). Then ofc there is injuries ;)

PS. Poor Agger, my favorite CB but it is a big :(

and ofc you've lost the god that is kewell/Voronin with his hair, benayoun.

I was never a big fan of Benny tbh. Even if he played good at times it was frustrating as hell watching him give away so many clear scoring chances cause he wanted to try and tunnel the defender one more time ;)

Cole on form is better imho, just hope he reaches that form anytime soon :p

You need another stiker, a goal every 2-3 games striker, someone who is capable of scoring 12-15 goals a season for you.

I do agree you need wingers, but you have done for fooking years now. I'd make Johnson right winger (like Bale) and stick that young lad Kelly or Carragher at RB. Atleast then you get all the benefits of Johnson going forward, but the isn't under so much pressure to get back to defend. Left side Maxi aint the answer.

If you followed my posts in this thread you would probably notice that I am probably the Liverpool fan that dislikes Carra the most :), I think he is utterly useless and I think Vasc's feelings about Raul pretty much sums up my feelings about Carra, or maybe not that much but he is the worst CB in the club and if he really loved the club that much he would stand aside.

But I see your point, some people getting past their peak and some people approaching. I think you are to harsh tho!

Can't say much. Agree with everything altho I think the other positions are more important (mainly because I think Kuyt/Jova/Babel can fill the second striker option and they might surprise you, we at least knows Kuyt can deliver goals). Johnson as RM, I for one am all for it :)

I actually forgot about Jova, he may well be able to do a job. The thing with ngog and babel is that if the ball falls to them in the box you don't think goal.

Tim Cahill for example despite him being a midfielder/second striker. When the ball drops to him in the box you expect him to make the keeper work. That's what the top teams have, people in reserve that can come in and give you the same attacking threat. Ngog/Babel are one off game players. I'm sure Liverpool would give an organ to have someone like Owen/Fowler coming through the ranks again.

Because players like them just have it from a young age, Ngog/Babel are not suddenly going to become prolific. I wish Hodgson all the luck in the world for Liverpool tbh, if he can get you guys into eurpoe this year it will be a step forward after last years horror show. But 4th place is still up for grabs, and if he can invest wisely in Januray who knows! Go and Grab AShley Young for a start for the left handside!

You forgot about Kuyt! If we got a proper Right Winger I am also confident Kuyt could chip in goals from striker position if needed to.

It's reviving actually manage to have a discussion about Pool on FH without having the "loool you suck relegation". Hats of to you :)

That's because if we were to mention relegation, you'd bore us to death with facts about Rafa and how you can still win the title this year :p

You clearly missed Kuyt, but I think every Liverpool fan needs to back off from Hodgson, the squad and the new owners, and let them finally start rebuilding. It wasn't possible under Rafa or the old yank *****, you need two years to become a proper top 4 team again, and the sooner you accept that and get behind the whole club - coaches, players, owners the better.

Zzz :) Honestly I don't mind Roy _that_ much. It's just that I happen to like Rafa :) I know we will need to rebuild (and get wingers!), altho I think it will take longer than 2 years.

Tbh I've never seen any Liverpool fans complain about the owners/squad only Roy. And the Roy complaints it's more because he seems to be happy with being 9th rather than saying we need end up higher.

Hodgson is a poor manager with lots of charm as I see it. Yes, he's decent at a lower level, but I don't think his outdated tactics will work against top teams when he has some prober material.

And yes, I've only watched like 2 liverpool matches since the summer, but I know him pretty well.

Wonk, my point is that it doesn't matter who the manager is. Liverpool have been punching above their weight for some time now. Their squad is poor (and that is all down to Rafa), their infrastructure is poor (Owners, and Rafa).

They have 3 stand out players - Reina, Gerrard and Torres. If any one of those is not 100%, they suffer. Roy had a poor start to this campaign, but you've really got to wonder if anyone else would have done differently with the resources available (don't give me the Rafa argument, Masch made a massive difference to the first team, as did Youssi - he had better resources). Remember that's hes having to rebuild the coaching set-up behind the scenes too, change the entire culture of the club, it's not an overnight job.

Well, signing somebody who (I think) is a bad manager, doesn't help a lot. Put a better manager in the seat, and I'm sure they would win a lot more.

But no, he's not THE problem - just a part of it.

Yes, but with no thought on the progression of the club. Rafa is an extremely selfish manager, he cares nothing for the players, or the club, just his own glory. Just look at the way in which he jumped ship. Also, he got better results with a better squad as I said previously, and he is directly to blame for the drop in squad quality from Houlliers era to today.
