Lol Chelsea are such sneaky bastards, they are trying to claim they are now debt free so that they don't fall foul of the new UEFA laws related to debt levels. They are saying the £340 million they owe is no longer a debt because Roman is no longer charging interest, what a load of bollocks, it is still a debt and it resides on the clubs books.

End of the day they are £44 million a year in the red, those losses might be falling but they are still a long way from being self sustaining.

BBC News - Chelsea Football Club now 'virtually debt-free'
The whole point of what has happened is that it's not on the books anymore. The debt never had any interest eiher since it was Roman's money. In fact the debt only really existed in the books because being in debt to yourself doesnt really count.

Our losses are steadily decreasing, once we ship players like deco and ballack we'll be well on our way (they earn like 11m between them )

The debt still exists, therefore it is on the books. He has not written those loans off and that is the only way to can be removed from the books. All Chelsea are doing is trying to find a loophole by changing the wording/terms of those loans but they are debts none the less.

fs Soze, how hard is it for your lot to keep a clean sheet against pompey eh? Messing with my fantasy league score. Got a really tight h2h going on and need the points.

Also, 5-0 now, Ronney set up Valencia who finished well.

If you had seen how misserable they looked you would have let them score one as well!

Yeah but i doubt he'll be on 100k a week on his next contract, assuming he gets one, And hopefully this time around we wont have to be giving any payouts to shit managers ;o

And it's not debt, it's now equity, there's a difference.

Er no, there is no debt, it is now equity owned by Abramovic. Debt is something you have to pay back.

As I understand it they've turned his loan into shares instead. Same thing happens in all manner of companies the world over. Don't know if it is sneaky, but it is realistic.

All they are doing is saying the club is worth £340 million more than it is actually worth, purely so they don't fall foul of the forthcoming UEFA rules. Legal? Yes of course but it is all a game of smoke and mirrors from a club that is still losing massive amounts of cash per season and will continue to do so for some considerable time to come.

The true test should be if a club is consistently run at a loss over a period of 5-10 seasons but UEFA didn't have the balls to go that far.

What can Chel$ki do they only have so much marketability and do not have the support to fill a 60 or 70 k seater week in week out to make the money needed to compete?

Cut the wage bill plain and simple, they are by far the biggest payers in the league. How many players do they have on over £100,000 a week? The losses are falling every year but offloading useless lumps like Deco and Ballack will go a long way to reducing that further.

Actually i'd say that'd quite easily fill a 60k, you underestimate the popularity of Chelsea these days.

I don't think i do a fair few times in the last 3 years you have had obvious non sell outs so adding another 20k empty seats is not a wise move or they would have looked into it already imo.

Same can be said with all top4 side having none sellouts though? Chelsea are becoming an increasingly popular team, they'll most deff beable to fill those seats if they were going to be added imo.

Wolves fan not Chelsea btw. ;)

I changed one you to a they but forgot one ;)

From looking at the Chel$ki numbers i just don't think they have the regular fan base to fill 60k every week. As i think if they did Roman would have looked into it as the extra revenue can be worth a fortune. So while they may be becoming better supported I dont think they are season ticket fans.

"To put it in gentleman's terms, if you've been out for a night and you're looking for a young lady and you pull one, you've done what you set out to do. We didn't look our best today but we've pulled. Some weeks the lady is good looking and some weeks they're not. Our performance today would have been not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi. She may not have been the best looking lady we ended up taking home but it was still very pleasant and very nice, so thanks very much and let's have coffee."

Depends if they hand out enough little blue flags for the die hard prawn sandwich brigade at the bridge to wave. Got to build that atmosphere!

Blackburn manager Graeme Souness did his best Swiss Toni impression when talking about the form of strikers Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke.

He's 33, been injured for a year and nowhere near his old form. There doing the right thing by looking to offload him.
