To be honest, I just dont know why England national team doesnt call him as goalkeepr. Iirc he has english-spaniard nationality, and not like hes going to be playing for Spain while Casillas Reina and Valdes are around, but still, hes a very good goalie, imho the best the english side could call

1) He really isnt that good to be honest. Same amount of liabilities as current keepers. I agree that Joe Hart is the current future of the team.

2) He does not have English citizenship. There is no such thing. What he has is British citizenship which covers England, Scotland and Wales nationals (remember N.Ireland is UK, not Britain. Hence is not covered in this).
Due to this "mixed" citizenship issue there has been a long standing agreement between FA's that 'foreign' players will not get called up into one the national teams. Scotland have a few players up there that can be called up but arent, even though they got alot more skill then some their laughable players.

3) I think the FA understands that unlike some countries, alot (most I would say) actually do have national pride and would rather lose with true English players then to bring in non-english people to the team in an attempt to win.
Couple this with the fact that we got a team that should win more then they do, bringing in someone else isnt really necessary. It just a matter of getting the players to bring club form to the national stage

Yep, none of them were "nationalised" they qualified through family ties. Which is common practise, and very different to a player who is simply eligible because he has spent the last 5 years here.

I thought I was correct in that, but then it is Mr Spanish we are talking about!

Blood ties to a nation, and a piece of paper. A big difference in that :)

If you are going to add players like that then you may as well add Owen too, could have played for either Wales or England but as said, dual nationality is not the same as residency.

You said "non english" people. The people I listed arent english.

But its not like you to move the goal posts when someone proves you wrong :D

there is a big difference between people from abroad who, by birth, qualify for a british passport, and some randomer who spends 5 years, isnt good enough to be called up for his own nation so pins his hope on a call up from the country he is nationalised to :p

They are english as in they got english heritage. Thought that it was pretty easy to see that was what was being discussed but hey who cares!

The listed people are English by heritage. They have English blood (and not talking 1/1000000000000th before you start that). As such they deemed English for the conversation.

Almunia = no english heritage = not english = not acceptable under the definitions given.

Any questions!?

Seriously? Must be clouded by national pride Vasc. Almunia is a liability in the same vein as most of the England keepers. Hart is our future in goal, and given his performances for Birmingham this season, the right choice as our World Cup number 1.

Yep agreed.

I would love to argue with you but that's spot on.

Arsenal have not had a great Number 1 since spunky and if we were going to spend £20 on any 1 player a keeper would be my pick. I'm a fan of Craig Gordon myself but not sure he could handle the step up.

I don't think even Wenger could uncover a top keeper for twenty quid :D

Who's the best keeper atm in the EPL?

Given and Gomez are the best shot stoppers, then you have Reina, cech and Van der Sar as great all round keepers. Schawrzer, Jaskeliean (sp), and Hart making up the best of the rest.

is woshisname Igor Akinfeev still at CSKA Moscow?

Yes, and consistently linked with every big team in Europe, hefty price tag though.

Think all keepers are prone to "David James" moments. At some point in the season just about every one of them make stupid decisions
