Yeah Tottenham could easily lose 3 games in a row.

We've got a tough run in aswell, unless we step things up a bit (or Essien returns) I can see a 3rd place finish. I just hope we're not next to Liverpool ;)

Not really, look at the games you have coming up. Don't listen to the media -they trot out any old garbage to sell papers. The same papers that are bigging up Spurs were writing off Arsenal for the league after defeats by Chelsea and United.

Now look at Arsenal go.

We need to put you and City under as much pressure as possible though, and that means we are desperate for three points against Wolves at the weekend. Sorry Everz.

Re-read what I said ;)

What I meant was that if Villa won their games in hand they'd now only be level on us (and thanks to Wigan we've a better goal difference), and Man City would only be a point ahead with a game against us at Eastlands.

Before both City and Villa would be ahead and we'd be relying on them slipping up even if we (miraculously) got 9 pts against the top 3

Oh dear, one one hand I am happy chelski are out of a chance at champs league glory, on the other it means less games for them to juggle around an already injury hit squad.

It's genetic. :p Nevermind, hopefully United will get Inter in the quarters and ass rape them again. :D That will make Megadave feel better.

Thank god, Samuel, Motta and Lucio kept giving him real reason to be on the floor, he was probably annoyed that he didn't get any real opportunites to fake injury.

Chelsea were poor over both legs, last night Malouda was the only one that actually showed up. Felt sorry for Turnbull as well, north east lad, I wanted him to do well which I thought he did, especially with the save on 90 minutes.

On the face of it Inter could have had 2 or 3 more last night. It's worrying for England, that one of the players we are going to be looking too for inspiration (Lampard) wasn't able to stamp his authority on the game.

other then the first half wrestling on drogba i think that should be a penalty ... but these things are rarely given (would be 5 a match if they followed rules properly) ... then i agree that it was a pretty event-less game full stop.

The Drogba sending off ... I think the initial collision was accidental. The guy was trying to get right into hugging range of Drogba and didnt expect him to stop moving.
Drogba stamp, did look intentional for me and even if the ref didint think it was a straight red, Drogba was already booked at that point.

To be honest, Drogba in the CL when it looks like they going out seems to go into tantrum mode. Something that Chelsea really needs to look at because that attitude alone probably cost Chelsea in the penalty shootout against united... and sure last night they didnt have much time to get back into the game but there was an outside chance

Stop being silly and trying to limit tantrums to a single player or even a club, it is fairly common to people who live in the footballing world at times....sadly.

When you speaking about a specific match/team then you got to expect to speak about specific players and incidents.

Ronaldo = petulant child that gets silly red cards. (amazing player but this is his flaw)

Drogba = tantrum prone and lashes out because of getting frustrated due to the way Champions league football is played. Likely cost champions league trophy on one occassion and now will miss 3-4 games of next seasons group stage.

Personally, if i was managing chelsea I would sub him towards the end of frustrating games like this milan one to prevent him acting out.

....
I am not limiting it to one club or player. But this discussion was specifically about a clubs performance which leads to talking about specific players. If you want to discuss other teams players that act out then go ahead and i will participate in that conversation as well.

Yes.

As much as i appreciate everything he has done for us (I really do) he is a complete ****. Not only in his personality but in the way he gets his team to play.

Obviously his personality is fun and everything to watchin in the media, it can get pretty annoying when he manages your team. His ego takes over, Makelele even said in his autobiography he got angry at Mourinho taking the praise for everything when it was the players who'd won the games. I think he severely damages the reputation of any club he joins. His siege mentally has it's advantages but also ends up leaving the club's image damaged. It's no coincedence that we were hated loads whenhe was here, and now Inter are hated loads.

Also i used to hate how he clearly taught players to act like twats. He's obviously a massive advocate of the tactics like "fall over very often", "stay down for as long as possible", "foul on corners since you get away with it" and generally just aggrevate the opponent. This was easy to see last night and i remember times when we used to do the same. (although sometimes it was merited, like barca 06, beating them at their own game with the dving, waving imaginary cards and getting on the cheating dagos nerves was rather enjoyable)

i bet players like robben and drogba wouldnt go down so much without him. i also think his style of football isnt especially enjoyable.

also everyone seems to forget that Mourinho had a shit start to the season and with his ego he seems to only accept the easiest challenges possible these days

Agree with pretty much all thats been said above.

Our reputation was horrendous when Mourinho was in charge, yes he was an amazing manager but as megadave said it's the siege mentality he creates thats funny for the media to publicise but everyone else becomes sick of it.

Everyone in Italy bar the Inter fans are far from fond of him, no doubt if he ends up at Madrid in a year or two he'll employ the same tactics and Ronaldo will be happy as a pig in shit being told to go down so much ;) :p

The likes of Guus and Carlo have put a much softer image across for our club, people will always bemoan our alleged overnight success and dominance, but our last two managers are much less egotistical and appear to have a much better relationship with the board, owner and fellow managers.

I also think he takes a lot of credit for Ranieri's hard work. Ranieri had already built a great squad and got them playing as a team. Mourinho came in and then spent shitloads. I reckon i could have managed us to success at that time tbh.

Not to mention buying a LOT of trollop;

For the 225m spent he got it right with those in bold IMO;

Juliano Belletti £3.7m
Florent Malouda £13.5m
Tal Ben Haim Free
Claudio Pizarro Free
Steve Sidwell Free

Ashley Cole £5m
Khalid Boulahrouz £7m
John Mikel Obi £16m
Ben Sahar Hapoel £320,000
Andrei Shevchenko £30.8m
Salomon Kalou £8m
Michael Ballack Free

Michael Essien £24.4m

Shaun Wright-Phillips £21m
Lassana Diarra £1m
Scott Sinclair £160,000
Asier Del Horno £8m
Jiri Jarosik £4.83m
Ricardo Carvalho £19.85m
Didier Drogba £24m

Tiago £8m
Mateja Kezman £5m
Paulo Ferreira £13.2m
Arjen Robben £12m

So about 110m was worthwhile, but wasted 115m. Had he not had the kid in a sweetshop mentality we might have some decent continuity to our squad rather than the chop and change mentality that was instilled by endless wealth.

This thread isn't about one team, even a lot of the last posts have covered other teams and in your final comment you almost seemed to be focusing on Drogba to such a fine point that other over paid players seemed to gain some sort heavenly glow about them.

As for Mourinho, he was very good but I think keep referring to him as special is a little over the top.

The worst thing about that is most weren't sold for any where near enough of what they cost to buy, oh a remember Ashley was a swap for William Gallas + 5million.

Oh sorry I forgot I denied that didn't I Ch3tan...er no. You'll find I can't stand suporters of other teams having the bare faced cheek to comment as if it is something exclusive to Drogba, esp considering the team you support.

Rep for that, Ranieri is the unsung hero of the Jose era.
