To be fair i think many will agree with that other than Jose himself.

Barcelona rack up a cricket score at this rate, can only see United potentially overcoming them this year.

I reckon Inter could do it at a push, not in the quarters though. Too many suspensions.

Someone posted on the CFC forums that they've received some ITK shit about Mourinho returning to Chelsea. Someone with a good rep aswell, anyway people are jizzing their pants basically. What a load of bollocks.

Barcelona were good but let us not get ahead of ourselves here.

They beat a team that only escapes the bottom half of the German league by goal difference. On the other hand, Manchester United beat the second most celebrated team in European football by 7-2 on aggregate. Whilst AC Milan aren't exactly great, they are much better than Stuttgart who were so bad at defending I don't even know how to describe it.

The real test, to see whether they are worthy of winning it again, will be if they draw one of the English teams or Inter in the next round.

ITV's coverage is piss poor, I hate Peter Drury's commentary.

When a team like Barca put together a good move he goes "It's Messi!, It's Henry!, It's Ibrahimovic!, It's Bojan!" with each name rising in tone as he says it. Irritating.

Still they could have had Tyldsley on remembering "that night in '99" like he always does come Champions League time.

Classy performance from Barcelona. Probably the team everyone will want to avoid in the next round.

I look at La Liga and Barcelona are not leaps and bounds ahead of Real Madrid in either points or quality. They actually look weaker to me than they did last year in some aspects, the same can be said for United of course so I will not get ahead of myself but I do feel we are as good if not a little better than Barcelona on our day. Only time will tell though.

Fuck knows, the Glazers did this to the yank gridiron team as well, prices went up 400% over the course of a decade or something fucking silly like that.

Chelsea fans complaining about Jose rofl!! Without him your club would still be floating around doing nothing, with a we aim to win mentality without actually doing it.

United beat a team that is currently 2nd in the Italian League, where as Barca beat a mid table team in the German League. People keep going on about how amazing Messi is, and he really is amazing, but against a decent defense I don't see him as great as Rooney. Messi can basically run through an average defense, where as Rooney can do so much more against high end defenses. If Barca meets United again I can't see him running through Vidic and Rio if the midfield helps closing him down, which I am without a doubt Fergie will plan to do

At the momement I see United as the strongest team in Europe because of their current play and how they handled Milan over the two legs

We would have won league with or without Jose, Ranieri got us 2nd the year before jose took over. With the money jose had im sure Ranieri could have got us from 2nd to 1st. Look at it this way when jose left avram grant got us to final of CL and PL race only ended on final day. Jose is very clever tho and part of reason we lost the other night was down to the very sly way he lingered in tunnel as chelsea walked out and talkd to the players. Also how on earlier interviews he talked of not celebrating and how chelsea would always be special to him. This behavious causes confusion imo and is a great psycological tactic. Id rather keep Ancelotti than get jose and just give ancelotti time to get into the job. Just give the man time lol

Also lets remeber Inter have beat AC milan 2-0 and 0-4 this season so both them and united have destroyed AC, the only diff is inter have beaten chelsea where as united have lost all encounters with chelsea this season. So if anything id say the CL is wide open with no clear fave.

Sorry but you can't prove that at all. Jose gave chelsea a win ugly mentality that Ranieri was incapable of doing. Liverpool finished sceond last year and this year they are no where, previous seasons can never be an example of future success.

Ranieri would have had the same money to spend that Jose had tho, where as Benitez didnt have 200million+. Ranieri had already molded them into a winning side, the cash injection would have just been that extra boost in theory. AS you say tho its all speculation but i just feel Ranieri gets none of the credit he deserves.

He did a great job. But as you so righlty said, so did Avram Grant, but he also never gets the credit, because there were alot of rumours about the players simply doing it for themselves as oppsed to for Avram, which is a bit harsh tbh.

Man United got owned by Everton, ergo, by your reasoning, man United are shit.

I cant see anyone other than Barcelona or Lyon winning the champions league.

I reckon if Arsenal can avoid united or Barcelona until the final they have a good chance. Would like to see them win it as well.

Then again, isn't Bundesliga ahead of Serie A now?
And Messi could have a field day against Vidic, he doesn't seem to far all that well against pace imho.

Messi isn't actually that quick though, and if you look at the three times utd played Barca in the past two years with the exception of the Final last year, when we were missing (Fletcher our big game midfielder) Messi had zero influence or impact on the two previous games.

Yes, but the fact that whole man utd was concentrating on messi, iniesta and xavi were totally ripping your team apart. Barca is actually playing better without ibra then with him, he's too slow, doesn't score that much, can't handle the ball that fast.. he just keeps obstructing the fast pace of barca. they better get rid of him tbh.

True. true :) Forgotten about last couple of games. But in my opinion Vidic struggles against Torres. And probably mainly cause of his pace? And I would still say Messi is really quick with the ball, not as much without maybe.

Yeah different kind of Pace :)

Torres uses his to split the defence and probe holes, Messi uses his with the ball which always gives teamsa chance to shepherd him into areas they can handle him.

Xavi and Iniesta are the ones who make it all tick.

Robbie Keane will be joining Aston Villa in the summer according to The Mirror, who say the 29-year-old has been a long-term target of Martin O'Neill's.
Celtic cannot afford the striker, and Villa are expected to land the Irishman for £9m, with O'Neill prepared to sell Habib Beye, Steve Sidwell and Nicky Shorey to make room for his £65,000 a week wages

If this is true it's just lol, sorta pass the parcel with him atm.

Bad news for Pool. Howard Webb ref for Utd-Pool. This will probably mean that Masche will get sent of in first 10 and at least 2 united penalties :(

yeahy, lets start all this biased crap again. lol. And lets now put up some information

Red cards Howard Webb gave in 2008–09 season, premier league only.

* West Ham, Mark Noble, second caution (37 minutes) v. Manchester City
* Manchester United, Nemanja Vidić, second caution (90 minutes) v. Liverpool
* Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo, second caution (68 minutes) v. Manchester City
* Arsenal, Emmanuel Adebayor, second caution (62 minutes) v. Liverpool
* Newcastle, Sebastien Bassong, violent conduct (60 minutes) v. Fulham

So last season Howard webb sent of 5 people, 2 of them were Manchester united players. That is 40% of his red cards went to united and 0 of them went to Liverpool.

Infact, 40% of the red cards given by Howard was to the opponents of Liverpool.

So shall we take this to be that Howard Web is actually a Liverpool fan because the majority of his red cards go to :
1) Manchester United,
2) the opponents of Liverpool

I think you are taking my words out of context here. Yes, one could argue that Barcelona make Stuttgart look bad, but the fact of the matter is that we all knew they weren't great in the first place. Stuttgart are not last-16 standard - all I was saying is that let's see how Barcelona fare against the better teams in the CL before we start declaring them the winners.

I agree. I think Messi is a great player, but I am amoungst the group of people that believe he would be no where near his best in the Premiership.

Lethul said:

I would say the Bundesliga is still way behind the Italian league. Isn't this a league that concedes about 3-4 goals per game? When you consider that, Stuttgart's defending and the number of goals Barcelona scored last night were no surprise.

With regards to how to deal with Messi if Man United play against him; in my opinion they have two capable people, Fletcher and Park, who I think would be able to deal with Messi.

How Arsenal would deal with him I do not know. The mere thought of Sol Campbell trying to mark Messi fills me with concern.
