To me, that looks like his ankle went before shawcross touches him. Granted I havent seen the replay.

And I wish Wenger would SHUT THE FUCK UP. CLaiming that teams try and injurer his players on purpose, that there is some kind of vendetta against his players.

He's always going to do it.

He moans if you rough his team up.

He moans if you play long ball.

He moans if you close his players down too quickly.

He moans if you play counter-attacking football.

The challenge was a 50/50 ball, Ramsey was unfortunate to come off in the way he did, but tackles like that go on in every league, week in week out in this country.

I'd imagine that unless you've had a serious injury, the thought of coming out of a tackle second-best doesn't cross your mind in the split second you make the decision to go in for the ball. If you want to remove that risk factor, you may as well make football a non-contact sport.

The weather at Wembley is atrocious today. Biting cold wind and lashing down with rain. Not the weather I'd hoped for to say the least. Plenty of good spirits between the two sets of fans ... although there appear to be a lot more Villans here so far.

But I guess most Man United fans can have a lie in before getting here, being Cockneys for the most part ;)

Im surprised he saw it. Im sure if it was one of his players who caused the leg break he wouldnt have seen it.

He is probably upset Ramsey didn't handle the ball when he went down too.

Wow some of you pricks are bitter Any one of your managers asked the question minutes after a game finished would have said the same shit. I dunno what the press have against Wenger but how is "I did not see it" different to "I need to watch it again". It gets fucking boring one of his players had his leg broke in a tackle that first time round looked late. All the commentators said it was late and the red was deserved. But no Wenger with out seeing it in 25 angles and in slow mo should know it was 50 50.

And yes im bitter for a team who do not get kicked more than any other we have had 3 broken legs in 5 years.

Everyone I know who arent arsenal fans have said in no was it a red, if the leg hadnt of been broken then it would have been a yellow for a careless tackle.

Hoping for a 3 match ban for this unprovoked attack on the linesman by the flag

Capello doesn't seem to rate Ashley, fine, hopefully it will motivate him for the Carling Cup final tomorrow.

I know I've already said this but I cannot, for the life of me, understand why Young is not in the squad. I don't really rate SWP, he has his good moments but I find him erratic and inconsistent.

Ok, from watching that, and looking at the photo, its obvious to see that ramsey had already broken his leg before shawcross made contact

None of the footage I've seen is that great and most of it has vanished from youtube but there is every chance that if his studs were in the ground at the time and he twisted/fell then he could of done it to him self.

Agreed, he has had enough chances and not taken them.

I have never said i though it was a red im not interested in watching it 20 times but at the time the commentators said he was late and it was a red and they had seen it again. This changed after the game with the other angles. Wenger commented before seeing it from 25 angles so he was going on just seeing it live. I do not know if he will retract it but i think he might.

Then he should learn not to, while he is one of the more prolific when it comes to this he isn't the only manager to do so.

I watched it on sky, then watched the motd highlights, they all said it was only a red because of the injury. Commentators and pundits, so no idea what the hell you are on about.

And give over, it doesn't matter how much you get kicked, it was an accident, it's unfortunate and it happens.

Park is indeed having a good game. Wish he managed to score in that time added in, such a good hit as well

Vidic should have been booked for that foul for the penalty, think the earlyness of the offense made teh ref decide to take no action beyond the penalty. Looks like vidic slipped (watch left leg go under him) before making the challenge which may have made the refs decision not to red card him, and the fact that the ball was heading to side of goal and not directly towards it.

I also think that the Collins tackle would have been a red card IF vidic went. He was actually the last man and owens pace would have had him on goal clear.

Great finish by owen, he is so deadly in front of goal, shame he shown his body is just weak as hell again... finishing like that would get him back in England team, but his injury proneness is such a liability you cant risk it.

Then you got the handball penalty claim... almost identic
al to the Arsenal one yesterday that was given, shows inconsistant decisions again. Though as i thought yesterday, it silly given penalties like that when guy got no chance ot move hand, even if it slightly out from body.

Some strange ref decisions in regards to not booking united players at times, that I admit. Carrick should have been booked probably, but cant defend the villa players that got booked as they were clear offenses that needed a yellow.

Certainly looking a good game, shame to see owen go off injured... lets hope united play like they did at teh end of the half instead of how they did at the start

Good performance from united in the end. The 2 wide men done a great job throughout and Valencia is getting better in his distribution all the time, and that is header number 9 this season for Rooney, with only 12 headed goals in total including them. lol.

Pundits on Sky are annoying me... going on about the Vidic should be sent off but not even looked at the collins foul on Owen that also could been a red easily.

Well done for richard Dunne on his comments about the situation

"They got a man sent off at Villa Park and it didn't make a difference. It's better to play against 11 men and it made it a better game. It's their day today."

Just shows the difference between the top 2 and the rest of the league. United and Chelsea dont give a shit about the Carling cup. Its small fry, but they can go out against a team who would give their right arm for a tin pot trophy and still win.

pity United had one man more than they should for 86 minutes........

I'm pretty sure that it says something in the rules about last man, goal scoring opportunity and red cards.....

but man utd took their chances and villa didnt, disappointing really, first 10-15 minutes villa looked good running at utd, then they just seemed to slow the game right down and stop doing it

It was a good game, well contested by both sides. Referee was poor - how he could let United get away with foul after foul with no cards produced, but Villa players booked for their first infraction grated.

We could have done with controlling the game more at 1-0 up, Dunne, Collins and Cuellar all showed their inexperience on the big stage with silly passes and mistakes which invited pressure.

Don't think we deserved to lose, should at least have gone to extra time.

All good experience for the Villa players though, will stand them in goodstead.

You did tbh, in terms of chances, Villa were flat from the 20th minute mark onwards.

Nonsense, we hit the woodwork in the second half and had numerous near misses. Our main problem, other than the excruciatingly bad officials, was nerves. There is a 'knowledge gap' in our league because of ten years of domination by the same four teams winning everything in sight.

Villa will be better for playing in a final, no doubt about it.
