If it had of been Ronaldo or Messi crossing that first ball last night, the plaudits would have been all over it.

The guy has pure class, I witnessed it the first time I watched him play for Ecuador in the world cup 4 years ago. His composure on the ball for such a young player at the worlds biggest tournament was there for all to see.

He might not have the goals that ronnie was scoring but he's scored more than ever this year on a personal level, and his assists just keep coming.

How good a signing is Valencia looking for Man United. A few eyebrows were raised at the time and he was also going to suffer because he had big boots to fill, but hes just getting better and better every time I see him. He was sublime last night.

He has found his confidence now but has also risen to the challenge of Nani as well, he smells like a winner to me. :)

he was a great signing, only thing i wasnt sure off was the amount we spent on him but he living up to the price tag.

If he keeps supplying rooney as well as he has been then we always got a chance of scoring. Pace, strength and get crossing ability. Rarely looks to cut inside to hit a wasted shot and instead plays old school winger, beat the man on the outside, get to the byline and hit in the cross.

Really pleased with what seeing from him now he has settled into the team fully.

Premier League clubs owe 56% of Europe's debt | Football | The Guardian

Probably explains why Portsmouth are in the shit, and why Premier League clubs have dominated the Champions League over the past few seasons (I don't mean winning it, I mean having 2-3 teams consistently in the Semi's which other leagues haven't managed). It's all about the money.

Utter nonsense. United's debt has nothing to do with what we have spent on players and it is the players that got us the CL football every year. Our debts are 100% and I do mean 100% based on the loans the Glazers took to finance thier purchase of the club. If you take United out of the equation then England's debt levels are in line with those of Spain.

United is a special case, the debts are not football debts, the club is constantly run at a profit and is being bled dry by the personal debts of the Glazer family.

Liverpools debts are similar, a result of the takeover. And are man city's and chelski' debt included in that report? Because they were written off in effect by the owners.

Nope, incorrect.

Liverpool's debt is an accumaltion of transfer fees, costs associated with the planning and purchase of land for the new stadium as well as debts incurred financing the purchase of the club. Liverpool's owners actually put alot of cash into buying the club, they didn't do it all on finance unlike the Glazers.

City's debts are football related, they spent cash that the club does not generate through income on transfers, same for Chelsea.

Arsenal's debt is down to building the new stadium and the project at Highbury, they have debt but it is easily sustainable due to thier excellent gate revenues and low wages for a club of thier stature.

What I mean is, does that report include the debt chelsea and man city owe their owners, because it is not really debt anymore.

It does include Chelsea and Man City, it says 18 EPL clubs not including Portsmouth and West Ham.

We also got a loan that would give a lot of other clubs wet dreams. I remember reading our finance guy spent 2 years securing the loans for the building works. Which makes them sustainable with no CL football and 40k a game coming though the door. But it is over 25 years so could prove to be a mistake if the arse falls out of football.

That report says 2007-08 so is that not pre City anyway?

The total doesnt even matter anyway, it could be 30bn aslong as it is sustainable.

We've got no leftback for tonight :( Atleast Inters whole backline are 1 yellow away from a suspension.

Well bored of the Mourinho hype-fest.

Malouda starting at left back, potentially big gamble from Carlo there

Malouda's always had the discipline to track back and offer cover so i'm not that suprised. It's either him or Belleti who's just gone back to training.

Shame Kalou is playing :(

Strong line up for Villa tonight. Has me a little worried, an injury to Ashley Young, Milner or Gabby would leave us right in the cart for Sunday. Good decision to rest Petrov and Heskey though, both bound to start in the Carling Cup final.

Wish I could be there but I'm carrying my own injury tonight, falling over in the snow at my age isn't clever. And with a big weekend of travelling and football to look forward to I shall enjoy the plastic comforts of home :D

That was a penalty, ref's position was bad and the linesman should have given it.
