FH server seems to have died a death, I have mostly been playing on Mab's clan server.

which is a good thing, if it goes on being used it will stay up. its been a Red Orchestra, DOD, Insurgency server in last few months, if it isnt used it will vanish
having said that, i will happily play on either depending where there are spots (glee for reserve slot on clan one). and while we only technically kick for clan members if im asked nicely i can sometimes get people on *ahem*

it was full about half 3 this afternoon, no FHers on there nor any OAPs - well, no names i recognised.

shame poag's server is always empty though.

had some good games last night, need to find my mic so i can teach some of you northerners how to talk proper

Its taking AGES for me to load up TF2 ... cleared stuff out and deleted blobs and stuff, but still jno joy. I get the loading screen and its locking up there for minutes at a time.

Gutted.

Any suggestions?

right click it in steam -> properties -> general -> set launch options :

there are lots of things you can tweak on load, cache size and stuff like that, main one you want is :

-novid
which cancels the startup video thing

if you want to add more, leave a space, the "-"is the start of the command

need ? no
but the better your hardware, the faster it will work

if its loading ok, if slowly, and playing fine at the settings you want, then no you dont.
but always load it, then do favourites, or console pasting, dont do it from steam in windows, gives you the time advantage

Good point on loading sequence... thing about all this is that it WAS fine, NOW it's broken

if you got a decent conection, you could just remove TF2, and redownload it.

backup the game files, uninstall it and reinstall from the backup?

Yeah that's what I also did I had the same "lag" problem after reinstalling Windows, tried everything to fix it setting things on Low etc nothing worked but after a reinstall from the backup everything worked smooth again.

Btw anyone know if they will be releasing other maps from the old TFC for TF2? or is that up to the players to design?
Really liked that old map where you had to cap near a tank(?) and the one with the long bridge, forgot their names but they were both in the classic map pack.
I like the current maps but they kinda get boring when you overplay them (dustbowl & 2fort etc).

Theres a bunch of custom maps out that are pretty nice already, fair few are remakes of old maps, and I did hear somewhere that VALVe might be making a tf2 Hunted, but im not really sure.

fuckin ell, it was 4 years as well. I'm getting some upgraded servers at my colo site in germany soon. Will probably slap a 24 slot tf2 on one once its all up and running smooooov like. I'm happy to give a few peeps here mani flags and so on so we can keep it nice?

Freddy server is also end of its contract. I dont have the time atm to look after it, i have updated it now to the latest version.

i been playing Gears of War and Red Orchestra, still up for TF2 if people poke me tho

in process of getting the OAP one updated, should be sorted "soon" (tm)
