Thats my recollection too - I remember the servers crashing a lot - took them a few months to settle down. We used to regularly crash it by PvPing at Tarren Mill by the zergload - was actually fun then but they soon put a stop to it.
We crashed Runetotem so many times a day for a while that a few GM's popped up and actually begged us to stop going to southshore for pvp for a while as they sorted shit out. Saying that the zones were not meant to handle close to 1000 people pvp'ing. :)

Obviously we didn't listen, which made them mad for some reason...

I hear the mods for items can be removed (for a fee) so that once you get a top range purple set you'll never buy anymore - this doesnt sound like a good thing for crafters. Apparently its so you can easily swap to different looking items and just transfer the mods.

That is correct. It is Ctrl-right click on items with mods that can be removed. Though not every item can be. But it is a good idea because how often is crafted the best thing in the world? Besides it just the mods ... and i believe crit crafted items are still up with the best drops etc. So they could make you alot of money if you were regularly lucky

Indeed, if anyone wants into a guild for early access they really need to get it done in the next few hours. ;)

Why would i need a guild? Got my early access all by myself.

Unless guildies get their early-early-early-access.

Not gonna happen bud sadly bud, I don't need the negativity and those last few months I was posting the place was drowning in it. Not just Generalites either, 90% of the people in there were at it back and forth, that kind of atmosphere ain't for me, I love banter but when it changes to abuse I cash out my chips and go home.

seems they still havent locked down the guilds, will prob be after the weekend now.

never got round to choosing any allies/adversaries either, so no fucking clue where my lot are going to end up. weve got 25 people signed up so far, so i presume we will be so much server-polyfilla :)

Jumping people who aren't up for a scrap is enormously weak. I've been on both sides of this coin and found both unsatisfying.
Zonal PvP works best for me. Once you're in a PvP zone, everybody is fair game: Everybody knows the risk and is prepared for such.
Global PvP? No thanks. So, I'll be rolling up on the a PvP server in early access (possibly), and then rerolling on PvE, hopefully with some knowledge of what's going on.

Tbh the more I read about the pvp the more I may just go pve tbh.

Companions in global pvp just sounds horrible.

How so? I haven't read much, if there are problems then I wouldn't mind knowing. Thanks.

Well i just don't understand how they can balance the game around classes and the companions that tag with them a healing companion healing a tank while he's smashing you up.

I just see huge problems with the companions in open pvp.

Well it all depends on what you are playing really. For instance if i was a sorc i would Whirlwind the Companion and take out the player.
As an assassin Im undecided though. Tempting to hit the companion, then restealth... but it pointless as if they not in combat they will instantly just dismiss and resummon (if they got sense).

Be a laugh learning what is best. But you could always just set your companion on their healing companion to interupt it surely?

I have done zero research on the whole pvp/pve split. I just assumed it was zonal PvP a la WoW or WAR and not Global PvP. Am I right?

Leveled a Warrior/Juggy tonight, pretty fun to play, even without the main aggro generating stuff which you don't get until level 16.

Tanks rolls are usualy not needed on earliy levels in many games anyhow, did you try the sith assassin or counterpart? There is the Guard ability that seems really cool for pvp and could be very good in pve too, But really its supposed to be a mitigation tank with cloth armor I dont know, thats what I probably end up playing tho.
