So... this is pretty much WoW cloned with sabres and SW storyline added? and by the looks of it a clunky combat system?

Or does it offer something new :s

I have tried so many MMO's and they are just all carbon copies of what we have seen before.. apart from maybe RIFT which was a tiny bit different.. it seems that after watching some gameplay videos this game will probably get a few million playing in the first few weeks then by March-April most people will have gone back to WoW and Rift etc.. apart from the true SW fanboys.

The game will also be £10-15 by then also :)

And no doubt they will have like 100-150 servers on release and by March half of that :|

Keitanz - It's wow in space with lightsabers, star wars music, DCUO instance system and cutscenes that drag on horribly.

tldr, it's gonna lose a ridiculous amount of subs, but raging star wars fans will play it instead of wow.

I don't understand where all the clunky combat shit comes from, I thought it was fine.

1 people like game A
2 they have a perfected concept of it in their minds , as to how it was. does not necessarily have any relation to reality
3 game B comes along
4 Compare B to concept of A
5 B fails comparison

Yeah god forbid people are smart enough to evaluate a game objectively before wasting time playing it.

Do you have to pre-order from certain websites for the headstart? Currently cheapest place is Sainsburys..... not sure its wise.
From what i´ve heard is that different sites has a limited ammount of headstart codes.

Well I found WoW shit, infact it is a cunt of a game imo. Hate it in every way.
Whereas I enjoyed SWTOR. Admittingly im a SW fan, but it wasnt that. It just was easy to get into and could just have a laugh in groups or solo.

Now everyone will have their own opinion... but what were people expecting?? Was never going to be unique. WoW is the leading game in stealing things from other games. They never seem to do anything that is unique but is tried and tested. No massive game is going to go completely different way because the market isnt there. They mainstream when they spend a ton of money and if you want unique it be a low budget game.

If you enjoy it, play it. If you dont, then dont. Simple is. No point trying to change other peoples minds

I like it, get the family involved another 2 players and you have yourself a group :D

Well I doubt my netbook would handle it so at that point I'm running out of PCs - my son likes the look of it too so I might get kicked off :p

cutscenes that drag on horribly.

I really enjoyed them. And it's one of the main selling points of the game.

Can understand that people who are not into that kinda thing would skip the game though...

Those cutscenes are only annoying for the altoholics and power games that want to win the internet by getting to 50 first. :)

To be fair. you dont need them. I didnt want to ruin the release of the game (and i had crappy gfx on the laptop when first started the weekend)... spam spacebar. Select answer. Spam spacebar. Give answer. Spam spacebar. Done.
Misses the main point of the game, sure. But as long as it not a group conversation then you are fine. . . and as I could solo some the group content then you dont need to worry to much anyways.

tbh you can just skip through each sentence with spacebar, and just click the option you want then keep hammering it; no scene's take longer than 20 secs that way handy if your just doing the same instance as you know which option to pick next time anyway.

EDIT: Damm corran beat me by 1-2 secs :p

And what are this weeks lottery numbers?

WoW sells so marketing people will aim their products at the same market. The combat is similar, the graphics are too. However the quality of the writing, the stories, the morality tales and the voice acting set it aside. Not everyone will enjoy those things, hardcore WoW fan bois will stick with that game for sure.

But for those of us looking for something new it will fill a hole. Certainly Bioware are a very accomplished firm and the Star Wars universe has a lot of depth to it, so I'm very hopeful. Just hope it doesn't become the usual end game fare of endless raiding and that the stories will continue to unfold.

However even if level 50 is the end of the road for the game there is plenty of replay value with each class having its own story.

The quality of the writing/stories and shit like that will not mean anything to your average joe trying this game out as his first MMO or coming from WoW..

For sure I'll end up buying the game, but the current price of around £40 is very stupid, I more or less guarantee that it will be buyable for below £20 by April, if it isn't I will be veeery surprised!

You don't think so? People's expectations are increasingly being raised. Perhaps a child wouldn't care but most MMOG players these days are adults I find, and they're not happy to be told to go and collect ten wolves paws anymore - they want something more mentally stimulating. And rightly so.

I'm sure SWTOR will not be the WoW killer all by itself and that will be sufficient for some to say it was a failure. But if it gives me 6 months to a years entertainment it will be money well spent.

I just don't think having a good story is going to keep people paying the tenner every month..

From what I have got so far.. it's WoW with different graphics/classes/races/story/voice acting/spells/styles.. and... omg.. LIGHT SABRES ADDED!! *facepalm* I don't see how that is worth spending £40-60 on..

I had hoped the game would offer some sort of new feature to MMOs which would seperate it from the rest, but it seems like the same old shit.

Hey it stole flashpoints from DCUO :)

The animations are awful though, almost as bad as rifts.
I KNEW I should have skipped rift but didnt, this time I'm sticking firm.

Tera/GW2 are the mmos to look for next year, perhaps even archeage a lot later in the year ( mmo minecraft ).

Tera doesn't look like anything special either.. Archeage doesn't really look like mmo minecraft, you really got me excited there !

But for sure I'm going to buy GuildWars2 on release.

It's always as "fun" when people ca't keep other games, comparisons and other statements like that out of games.

I so enjoy reading all the "wow is not gw2",or "swtor is going to kill wow", or "DConline isn't wow!" arguments.

F*ck me let's all go play pong and see when the first "tetris did it better" argument comes along

I was looking at pre-ordering the game from the official site (Origin really) but they add 50 SEK (around 4.5 GBP) for the pre-order things, which is fucking stupid. Seems like I'm going to have to order it from some swedish store, which sucks :(

All the pre-launch crap is quite silly, everyone should be able to login at the exact same time.... enables some epic starter place zerging :D

suuuuuure. Lets get millions logging on at the same second and crashing the servers... honestly what stupidity.

It going to be zerging anyways, that is a certainty. Im guessing you didnt preorder (or done it late) and want to just get on when others are. That seems to be the main reason people saying these things. Just glad I should be in really early as I think i got it done on the first day of pre-order :D

I don't really remember WoW having such a big issue with it.. I don't remember them having a pre-launch really..

And nah, I'm not a mug, I'm not spending £40 on a game which will be less than £20 in a month or two :p
