Shame though, i don't think people really thought about it before posting, weighing the options. Like for example a place to store gamer tags, it wouldn't take away from regular traffic, but would help peeps find other players.

then again, kneejerk reactions are the bread and butter here

Why would they need to be in OT though? There are plenty of sub forums for MMOs, FPS games, Strategy games etc all on the main page...they aren't used.

OT is for random spam, if you want to discuss a specific game then use the relevant sub forum that already exists or simply open a new thread in/post in an existing thread here.

Stick your gamer tag in your sig if it means that much to you.

Easy ccess comes to mind at first, not to mention not needing a thread for every game. Then there's the fact that often the games tags span over several games(like steam games).

Let me ask you this; What's the negative?

Because its a stupid idea. As said. We already have sub forums for just about every games catagory known to man and they aren't used, why would we need them duplicated in off-topic?

As for a sub forum for steam games? What? Shall we have a play.com/game/gamestation/zavvi/every other games retailer sub forum too???

Accept that it is a stupid idea and move on.

Steam ID, not steam games. Much like Live ID etc.

And the sub-forum wouldn't be about talking games, just to post IDs and tags.

Now can you find a problem with that? And before you say it, if you're going to just post "it's stupid" like a 5 year old child, don't bother.
