What's so good about borg officer throughout?

its stats will be better then any other officer you can get by the looks. And bridge officers level up with you. This means it is a bonus that will be useful throughout the game.

Things like weapons etc all end up being pretty useless once you start to get mk2 and mk3 weapons.

Yeah but health regen is health regen and you're blatantly gonna be able to buy the officers along the line.

somehow i cant see a freebie been much better than a uncommon/rare officer (have to treat them like drops there are some very rare officers you can recruit or so ive read) ive never known any pre order item to do much more than give you a slight boost to xp, or just make you look good.

think by the time you reach admiral your borg officer will be nothin but a memory or a status symbol could be wrong tho

well, i'm sad to say that i was right about the klingon cloak. every ship has it and its total invisibility (cant even see the "shadow"), usable in combat and only 10 second cooldown.

currently wtfpwning just about any federation player i come up against because of that.


hopefully Cryptic sees the retardedness in that and change it.

And yes... it complete invisibility unless there a science ship around to decloak them.. It is rather retarded.
But then that is the klingon players in general... there appeared to be 8-10 klingons on vent running around together all the time today, was a joke. At one point i was the only fed on a ground pvp map and there was these 8 "twats" for lack of better word, running around hand in hand chasing me. Then they moan because whenever they are on the map i beam off the mission

had to pvp grind a bit which was crap in the zerg fest, but past the bugged missions and got me my escort ship. Shame i not got any the mk3 disruptor cannons i had with the previous toon .. it a right power eater mind you, think i cant go 3 cannons, probably have to be 2 cannons and a torpedo launcher

But on the plus side.. got some pve i can do now

yeah because they put so much hurt on the enemies they dont need a cloak

saw 1 klingon something go up against 5 newbie ships and 2 escorts and beat the living snot out of everyone losing no more then maybe 10% hull.

so yeah, can see why they don't need a battle cloak there

although the BoP isnt much far behind in terms of damage dealing.

Mk3 weapons are drops afaik, though probably DS9 or somewhere sell them (not been there)

They drop in the pi canis sector of space ... especially in the fleet battles.

Speaking of fleet battles.. had the most fun in the game so far tonight... was doing a ground fleet battle and it was blooy great fun. Couldnt believe it.. chaos but was 12 or so of us and thousands of klingon npcs. Constant respawn made it a bit silly mind you.

Escort got a duel distruptor cannon mk3 and mk2, a heavy duel disruptor cannon mk3 and a quantum mine layer on the back.
The mine layer is crap, hoping it will damage fighters that get launched though but not had chance to test that. But with the cannons i rip apart most the enemy easily. I like the setup. Probably should have torpedos but that no fun.

I love my escort ship. 3 different type of Heavy Duel Cannons (mk3 phaser/disruptor, mk4 plasma).

It rips ships apart in no time at all. I expect to see the damage get nerfed though. 1k+ dmage per round. 2-3 rounds per shot. That is 6k-9k damage per 1.5second or so.

People complained about some ships hurting to much in PvE, I destroy 1 of them before they know im attacking which makes it so much easier to take out hte rest of the group.

Done a single pvp because bored of queuing. Saw a klingon fighting someone, so cannons were fired and smashed the guy so fast I couldnt believe it. ONly problem is survivability isnt great, but if i can get the jump on people they got no chance. If they cloak and i got 2 rounds of shots on route already they will die as no shields. lol.

They really beginning to get good direction on the game from what htey said after the weekend playtest. Not sure how ready for launch they be, but I knew that before beta as I know the company well... the good hting is that they listen to people who give advice to them

problem is tho that while the fed escorts and cruisers can put some hurt down, its still nothing compared to what a properly kitted out klingon mirror will do

i frequently had over 5k crits on my torps when i played the raptor.

i even dueled a fed cruiser once that were in defensive power setting and it only made him die with me even less hurt.

not to mention BoP's versus miranda ships... dont think i ever won a 1v1 in my miranda...

when the game go live i'm so rolling a science toon just to get the cloak detector power

Im interested to see how they will balance sides as weapons are the same on both sides in theory. Guess the only way to balance the game is to get a balance between shields and hull for each side.

ie. increase the hull/shield strength of fed ships to compensate for the cloak ability/manauverbility and weapon strength of klingon side. Lots of debates on klingons on main forum it hard to follow what going on. lol

I need to try out the klingons still, but pve is the thing that always need beta testing in games because there always a lot more content there and as only feds get PvE for all intents and purposes that is where I be.

aye, i mostly pve'd aswell. only got lt com on klingon because they were so easy to level. took me alot longer on the federation toon, but that is aparently being sorted out, so will be interesting to see how much faster next playtest. if there is one for europe now, last one was from 2 AM onward GMT+1

if they fix klingons pve i think this will be a pretty decent game. having pretty fun myself.

tho i have somewhat of a problem seing this game have a long term endgame.

/edit: federation side is pretty well done now with lots of tweaks and stuff.

I be in the OB. Be probably playing an engineering Escort Captain.

They just need to fix power usage on cannon weapons then it be good, hopefully that get done between todays closing and OB starting (they pretty quick at times).

Was flying a Deviant derivative today fully loaded with cannons (turrets on the back). very very enjoyable once you get used to the necessary playstyle (cant do a "sit at the back and pick away" for instnace).

I advice people to group when you can, makes it much easier (well it did for me, i let them get shot ), and you will get better drops (when they fix item drop rates which be in for tomorrows OB).

I can say a lot more tomorrow, as moment OB starts the NDA is off and wont get whined at
