Seems Fallout 4 will be using Skyrim Engine 1.5 with heavy tweaks. Winning.

Should be a nice head start for the mod community then!

@Scouse i've been meaning to ask, what games do you like? Like what games, what movements, what graphics etc?

Not an argument starter, just curious on your preferences to put your comments on games in context ;)

Not too fussed about graphics tbh. Of course, they're very nice to have, but they don't massively impinge on my enjoyment of a title.

When it comes to single player FPS's - which I consider Fallout to be (just an FPS with a much more interesting storyline and setting than most - with RPG elements but at the base level it's still a first person shooter) then I need two things: 1) movement to feel good and 2) good A.I. for NPC's.

Second one first. For me, no fight in a single player FPS has bettered what was a slightly-lucky-to-be-that-amazing AI than a fight I had in the original Half Life when there must have been a perfect storm of decision making over a serious period of time and it felt like I was fighting organised tactical units which were pressing and keeping me down. Lasted about five minutes. Was awesome.

And never repeated. AI in games is still shit fifteen years later. Fallout is a particularly bad offender however :(

The first is basically how walking about in the game feels. Is it natural etc. I like iD's engines for this as the best example of getting natural feel to the movement. Legs seem to move correctly (even though you can't see them) - but you see it in other characters too - their feet hit the floor correctly and body movement seems good. They don't "float" across the land like they're separate from it - they're part of it and look like they're joined to it by something real rather than imaginary.

In terms of genres of games? All of them tbh. I don't think there's a genre I particularly don't like or avoid or one I always go for.

Yeah i can see that and wouldn't say no to either of those being implemented, even if i don't mind non-accurate physics that much.

The bad shooting is part of the RPG side. Quality of gun, weapon ability etc and is the only way they can do it and still have weapon abilities that can have points invested in them.

In some ways its better because the character is not meant to be a soldier but a normal person.

I really liked, what ws it...damnit can't remember the name of the mod, but it essentially made shooting with a low skill impossible in NV(as well as change sprnting, sneaking and so on). Would be fun if they did implement more skillbased problems and such. For example the sneak icon, could be that at lower levels you get no indication of how well you're hidden and at higher levels you'd get some form of visual representation(to mimic skill/senses).

One thing i hope for also is that lockpicking would be harder and that lockpick skill would be more viable as a choice. Same problem i had in skyrim(fixed by mods naturally ;)).

Derp, project nevada was the name of the mod.

It's not the aim - it's the feel of the character and the awful AI that kills it for me. I don't mind massive artificial innacuracy so much as long as it doesn't feel like something that was designed as "good enough" with an xbone controller in mind...

Skipped a bit here and there to avoid most of stuff, but some "issues" solved for sure.

Have to put it on the same "no watch" list as xcom though. 2 game worlds i really don't want to spoil too much ;)

Depends if its a key plot character. Like some NPCs can't be killed or they break the story later on.

Its a bit weak but its necessary for the story mode.

It would be cool if they had the option to remove the main story quest (and restrictions on killable NPCs) and just leave in all the side quests so that it becomes more of a sandbox fallout.

Yeah thought the same, the dog seems to be a big part of it. Hell, if it's the origin story of dogmeat then i'd be over the moon :p

Haven't looked at the stuff, so don't spoil, but a pre-quel to all fallout would be fun.

FYI, if you have a pad/iphone/whatnot, there's a fallout vault building game that's quite good. No need to purchase anything.

Got it on pre-order but will wait for the high texture mods before playing it properly. Looks great but some of the character models in particular look a bit console.

Personally I got 3 a little while ago and not played it properly yet so perhaps I'll do that first then look at 4.
