If they are doing this, you guys at Mythic,GOA can also do this really... With 1.71 we still lagging like hell at TOA and I can't imagine the lag coming with Catacombs... I am sure many people would renew back their subs if they do such a work...

I've had almost no lag since the router fixes early last week - if you're still getting lag, get some pingplots as it's quite possibly your ISP or your computer.

well was it me only who was lagging at toa yesterday? Couldn't use my ''2 free days'' to get some scrolls... Let's say it was my side but there is a post opened coz of lag at 24th januar.... And who knows you won't get any lag tomorrow because of OTs next day... Another server in another (EU)country would be just better for support and pings imo...

No lag here, apart from those weird spikes the other day which Eviros mentioned.

I've heard plenty, plenty, of complaints about lag from my friends who are playing WoW. I believe the saying that "the grass is greener" is applicable here.

Blizz don't have a great track record in so far as customer support goes in my experience, why people here think the sun shine's out their behind is lost on me. You only have to go to a few WoW forums to realise that similar complaints exist as they do with DAoC.

It's just stupid to think that lag is linked with the location of the server. As long as they are based in Europe you won't see a difference. There is no lag on WoW Paris datacenter. Lag doesn't come from the location but from the ISP that Blizzard (Telia) and GOA (Opentransit) are using. It also comes from the server code.

And GOA doesn't need to open a new datacenter to "support more players" because there isn't new players for DAOC!

C'mon everybody knows that DAOC is at the end of its life. Still one or two add-on and it's over. Just look at the population on the US servers that is dropping every day even with Catacombs.
There will never be enough new players to open new servers now (except for the new markets (Spain and Italy)).

I really dont agree after trying WoW, really in that game something is missing ... When i play daoc, i just wanna play&explore more and more, dont know why... I dont think i will ever leave daoc for wow but i will have another wow account if they make their pvp system much much much better...

I won't leave DAOC either. I don't like WoW (I've never liked Warcraft background) but I'm aware that many people like it.

As has been touched on before DAOC europe doesnt have the player base to need such as WOW has.

I'm not putting down DAOC but it just has not got the numbers that WOW will have and i doubt it ever will.

This time yesterday ~ 7k online (Maybe +/-2 hours from this time, not sure, but was 6xxx when I checked last night anyway)

Thats no just "recovering" from WoW, it is getting back into shape lightning speed imho

I myself still not sure if I will come back though, dont like WoW and no other product coming out very soon im intersted in, so, maybe..

My account is still running afaik accually, but havent been online for aprox 2 weeks anyway, as for now I have no need to start playing DAoC again, but who knows how I will fell in 2 weeks or, for the hell of it, in 6 months?

Static is the word, the number on-line has stopped declining. Increasing is not supported. I could give you a far better case to support the argument that the average number of players is still falling.

We have the on-line stats since mid-October.

We will need to wait a little before we know a) the full impact of EQ2, WoW, plus GuildWars etc. Many people have said they are still playing but will not once their subscription expires (for some that is soon for others it is April)
b) the impact on the number of subscribers

As cemi0 has just said, theres a huge amount of lag whines on WOW US boards, as well as pretty much the same whines DAoC always has had, nerf this, overpowered that, boring this etc etc.

Yes WOW will get a huge player base, every games population dropped when HL2 came out for a week, then stabalised again. DAoC maybe dead to some, but not to all, if it is to you then for christ sake, move on and leave us to play OUR game. The mere fact all you anti-DAoC gamers keep coming back to this forum shows you still have either an interest in the game, or have f*ck all better to do. If WoW is your cup of tea, go pester that board.

There is currently a steady influx of new blood in the game, my guild alone has recruited 5 new players in the last month, and I expect others can say the same. These players are really enjoying the game, and dont give two hoots about being uber or 50 or ToA'd to the eyeballs, to them its new.

WoW will attract a lot of people, but I have seen 50% of those in beta quoting things like "Tom and Jerry with battle axes", "Would make Fred Quimby proud", "the Simpons meets Gladiator" and so on, due to its cartoon like features, which many dont go for in an MMORPG. Like any game, at first its player base will be large, but as the US is proving already, it will decline.

WoW is new, you cannot compare it to DAoC, especially if you are a veteran player who played it more like couterstrike than a MMORPG.

We've had the new server debate tmie and time again. We've had the Whine thread about lag time and time again. What makes it so different that you have to open a new thread. You think they are oing to listen to the Almighty Gilth ?

I've not had lag since the routers or whatever was changed. as suggested above, do some pingpolots and do not pass go until you can safely say its the servers.

Warcraft isnt new at all; it has a long history to fall back on. What is new is the fact that its being released as an mmorpg and not the oldstyle rts game.

I'll be utterly amazed when the day comes when people don't whine about (online) games.. the concept is as idyllic as "world peace". It there and won't go away so live with it, join it or just ignore it.

I'm going to give WoW a try, as for cartoonish features.. i could give less then a rats arse about them. Its the playing with (or sometimes against) friends that makes it fun; the game is just a means to an end. I've grown a bit tired of DAoC as have many others; trying something else doesn't hurt. Besides if it does suck then one can always come back and try something completely new in DAoC (ie moving to another realm to start over again...something that i'm considering though it won't be that easy for people with 3 accs ) or pick up where they left off.
