Play a Axe/Shield Heavy.. Man. Level 7 or 8? Been running around on a horse and not really done much after whacking the first dragon. Is fun, massive timesink. Was thinking about rolling a sneak/bow thing with magic. Not sure really.

Is a lot better than some other games I've played recently.

Seen plenty of people raving about this, its somewhat garnered my interest now, but i'm somewhat pissed due to commiting myself to 12 months to Warcraft/DiabloIII.

Is this a subscription based game like Warcraft or just a one-off charge incurred? When i was looking at the mobs in Skyrim (specially the fighting) it didn't really strike me as impressive (Like those numerous giant fights), wish they had a demo or trial like Warcraft has but i guess they won't because it's still fairly new.

what it does is target the ID, which is a person, npc, anythign that exists already, uniquely
and then it moves it to in front of you.
can cause fuck ups obv, but if you moved named people etc, you might need to move them back

I tried doing that with Lydia, as i thought she was lost to me forever after joining up with the Companions. The command syntax is 'player.placeatme <ID>'. What it does though, is instead of actually moving Lydia from wherever she is to your location, it spawns a new Lydia (no items on her, etc). I figured that after incorrectly taping the command in twice, lo and behold, I was seeing double, as two Lydias started parading in front of me.

Needless to say, i loaded up the save and just waited on her to return home. Which she did, hours later (day?). If you don't own a home, she'll go back to her original home - Dragonsreach.

And yes, i don't even want to think the ways it would fuck up the game having 2 Lydias running around.

I find companions to be an utter ballache tbh, playing the sneaky sniper type. They either set off every trap they can find or just charge into the enemy.

i keep having to wait for her, but she can tank, im 2h spec, so it works :)
on an amusing side note:

dragon spawn.. flies around, breathes fire.. lands, takes off.. flies away.. lands about 100m away... health starts dropping really fast. ?!
ran over.. it had landed on 3 trolls and promptly got beaten to death :D

my shield tank is rather imba now tbh, got 100 smithing and 100 enchanting now (enchanting was a fucking ballache and required so many soul gems its not even funny) got full Daedric on with 2 enchants per piece got a total of like 71% to fire/frost/shock resists and gain an extra 50% when I raise my shield, casters quite simply do not hurt now nor do dragons :) side questing like a boss at the moment.

magic resist setup is like breton racial (25% to magic resists) 46% fire+frost on boots, 46% shock resist on ring.

Still waiting for my copy to arrive, Amazon say it was dispatched on the 10th  will be complaining if its not here by tomorrow as I paid for the 1st class delivery instead of free saver. BF3 was free saver and arrived the next day from dispatch.

Had a dragon attack a giant at a quest spot, dragon and giant at about 1% threw fireball and both died... :D

Didn't you start a new character like two days ago??!! Have you even slept? :)

i've slept yes, the smithing is direly easy and took virtually no time in comparison with enchanting - the most time consuming part about it was getting gold to buy the mats, to get it upto 100 all I did was goto Whiterun do the first lot of story quests there so I could buy a house in Whiterun which is right next door to the smith (kinda need the space to store stuff otherwise you'll be encumbered all the time) then just buy all the iron/leather strips and leather she had rinse repeat xx times (sometimse you have to sleep upto 48 hours before she restocks) then just make iron daggers all the way to 100.

Enchanting was abit more tedious, first of all you need a weapon with some sort of proc on (doesnt matter which proc) disenchant that up at Dragonreach so you've got the recipe, after that use the iron daggers you made to skill smithing up to enchant onto to gain enchanting skill - this took a long time because of the amount of soul gems needed once again tho all the way to 100 doing that (I had to make a few extra iron daggers the ones you get going to 100 smithing isnt enough for max enchanting) at the end of it all the long process of flogging the enchanted daggers to vendors all over the place to get cash back you've sunk into it all :p you dont get alot back but some is better than none.

Edit: alternatively if you dont want to buy the house you could in theory just store stuff in one of the barrels at the blacksmith :p I didnt even consider it tho until after I had the house.

Edit2: to get money just sell a few daggers enchanted with Stamina damage (if you were lucky enough to find a weapon to disenchant with it on) you can turn a profit just by buying raw mats with that :p can make 3000-4000g every 8 minutes or so.

This game's really bringing out my OCD tendencies :/

I had full dragonscale armour, but then I wanted better so I had to level enchanting to make better smithing bonuses - then I had to level alchemy to make better enchanting and smithing potions... etc etc

Level 55 atm, running about 950 armour, 40-50% magic/frost/fire/shock resists and a waraxe with fire dmg and soul trap on it.

Really enjoying the game but geez, the interface is HORRIBLE. Fucking consolitis

just wondering, does getting all the decent armour with enchants etc make the game too easy or are fights still challenging?

You can put it on master difficulty in the settings, makes some monsters able to 2 shot you. But yeah the uber weapons make it pretty easy going. Might try fisting it next time! FISTS OF FURY!

Ooh I didnt know you can change the difficulty so I might try that. Atm I can level my Blocking by letting Giants bounce off my shield indefinitely without needing heals

Would my 9800 GTX run this?!
I'd imagine it would run it fairly well, my 4850 which is pretty much identical in performance runs the game on high at 1440x900, with 2xAA and 8xAF. And I'd imagine the only reason I can't go much higher is because my CPU is pretty much trash. Give it a whirl, it's well worth it even if you can't have all the pretties turned on.

My experience so far - after like 10 hours of gaming, which is pretty much a record for me nowdays is that it's fucking hard deciding on what to play as. I'm on my 3rd character now, and I think I'm gonna go for a 4th before I settle on one of them.

So tempting to buy this on next payday and am most likely going to opt for a PC version. My Laptop could handle it however I don't want any overheating issues that may be generated, is the game on the most minimum settings still very graphics heavy?

Also.. can 'characters' be transfered, e.g. can I play my character on my comp as well as my lappy?

There is no "cloud" as far as I have experienced. Seeing that the save is on "my documents". But you could always just copy the saves over and continue on your other machine.
The game does not require much, a rl friend of mine tried it on his over 2 year old laptop and it ran seemingly fine on normal settings.(And yes, the game still looks good)

You have DirectX11 is it? whilst I still have DirectX10 ( i think, I might be wrong )

Because when I was looking at BF3, the identical graphics card but with the new name was 'reccomended' but mine wasn't purely because I was running the wrong DirextX, and my shaders were 1 off.

As far as I know Skyrim doesn't use DX11 (I may be wrong) so it shouldn't matter. The game engine is very good indeed, with only rare graphical glitches now and again, usually after prolonged play so there may be some sort of memory leak somewhere. A restart and it sorts itself out.
