Our guild is at least comprised of people from 'oldskool' DAoC guilds - PE/RR/NP/Satori etc.

Server names won't stay the same as far as I know. I'm hoping that like-minded guilds will find a way to co-ordinate on server rolling, but I'm pretty down-beat on the list of 'PvP guilds' that are banding together to roll together on the official forums - mostly guilds I've either never heard of or know to be bad/zergers.

Got any thoughts on Warrior classes/specs viable in small-scale (5-10 people), Miri? Do the warriors in your group have clear preferences for what's working and not?

We're probably going to run two warriors at least to begin with. Champ, Void Knight, Riftblade (? the warrior Rift-something, not sure if I'm getting confused with the rogue here) and Paragon all look pretty viable right now for melee dps, then Paladin and Warlord look nice for a more tanky tank. In short, warriors are good right now.

cloudbourne had a queue of 900 at around 8 so went for defiant/bloodiron and made a rift blade/champ thingy and have to say i really like the game, lots of stuff you recognise from aion/wow/war but seems to be all the good stuff.

got to around level 5 but the quest 'turning the knobs' was bugged so don't have any quests.. cba grinding in the beta =p

cool game though, very serious about buying already i enjoyed it that much

the two downsides so far are that the mobs seem retarded and the 'styles' aren't that satisfying, need sexier sounds like daoc had

Tried Inquis yet Miri? seems to be a fairly strong addition to a pvp party since it can purge 2x buffs at a time (no cooldown on it either) damage isn't too bad either tbh.

anyone else have latency issues last nite?

was on sagespire and my latency was between 40k and 250k :( so i had up to 40/50 sec delay (annoyed me even more that my friends could play it and i couldnt!)

wasnt my connection, wasnt a ram issue or anything completely at a loss as to why it was like that.

was fine before so im hoping it will be ok again, ive already pre-ordered and im looking forward to early start.

Are you a BT Broadband customer by any chance? There was posting on the official forums and BT's own regarding high 40,000 ping latency with BT filtering rift due to the port assignment being changed inbetween beta 6 and 7 with them flagging it as P2P.

There was a post on the Trion forums saying they where looking into it.

Even if they don't you could consider paying for a VPN account (few pounds / month) and bypassing all that bandwith shaping crap BT does.

Open world pvp seems abit pap :x

It's open beta and server wipe in less then a week, ppl isnt about to start anything serious now.

And you probably wont see much serious open pvp the first few months either because most ppl will be to preoccupied with leveling.

Does it have any server sets where you have separate pvp zones (not crappy battlegrounds) but can still pve in peace...kinda like DAOC?

It certainly looks good and some of the classes sound interesting but I am not sure if I want to throw another £30 at an MMO that will not cut it for me.

Oh...and are there EU servers? Not sure I could cope with having to play with Americans again.

The zones work like WoW basically you'll get zones what is owned by your faction in which you dont have to be pvp flagged - zones by the enemy which you get auto flagged and contested zones where both factions get auto flagged iirc apart from the instances thats all you get pretty much :p and the instanes you have 2 level 50 instances BUT all instances including the low level ones have an expert setting (like heroic from WoW) so you get 10 instances all in all for pve needs at 50.

Not sure about raid instances tho those are still a mystery to me, i'd imagine there are some tho.

wheres the cheapest place to pre order for early access?;}

No idea, I think they're all the same pretty much, standard copy being £35 collectors edition being £40 - can be purchased from the official rift website along with steam.

Amazon, Game, Play, and Shopto are all offering the standard edition for around £25 which includes head start access from next Thursday the 24th before general release in the US on the 1st, and EU on the 4th.

Personally speaking I pre-ordered the CE from Game for £39.99.

Can get the Digital Collector's Edition from Direct2Drive for around £30 atm using the 20% off code.

If you're so quick to judge then there isn't really much hope. If you genuinely expect there to be any good PvP for the first month then you're mad. 10% of the server population will be 50 after this first week, then the other 90% will be way behind for a good month or so.

That said, I still have big reservations also about how the PvP will actually turn out. If the OPvP only exists in PvE zones as it does now, then I can't see it being a long-term success. Here's hoping that Port Scion is as rumoured; an OPvP zone.

I wouldnt say i'm quick to judge tbh i've just seen so many games with open pvp and you begin to get a rough idea of how it'll be in any game (this was no different) i've got my ideas of what it'll be like but as always i'll wait and see first hand.

As for people being max level I intend on being one of the 10% as I was in Warhammer its just a shame Warhammer turned out so bad :)
