TheTheDog rambled on:
The belgian bar is too bloody small for the sort of numbers that turn up for BB. I'm a big belgian bar fan, but I'd rather we stuck to a "normal" pub.
Not a problem Ted, I was gonna book us the back room if we did go there which has plenty of space, somehow I can't see 50 people turning up. Thirty would be peak I would guess. As for too far Ted, anywhere thats not 2 steps from a tube station is too far for you and your cane. Anyway whats a taxi for u cheap git :)

However that pool place looks cool as well and it would mean I can show off my l33t p001 skillz. As for the Guiness bigots, trust me if you didn't find a beer you liked out of the 300 or so Bierodrome stock I'd eat my mouse mat, anyway it would be fun trying them all :)

better bring your mat then :) tdc is very picky about beer (though that doesn't explain why I drink Guiness heheh). I hope it isn't a ratpad :D

Fucksake Ted, Old Man's Pub lover or what :p

Ted's criteria:

1) Slippers for hire as you enter establishment
2) Pipes available behind the bar
3) Free copies of The Sporting Chance
4) No barmaids under 55 and their tits have to rest on their stomachs.
5) No music

I'm sure I met up with a few BW lads at that Islington Bierodrome place, and I am sure I actually had a Caffreys there, but not sure if they do regular Guinness and Bitters.

must say that place with the pool looks ok, I'd love to beat you at pool Zarj, lets make sure we play sooner in the evening than later :)

I havent called em yet, I've been tteh busy boy, will try to tomorrow.

I'm a big fan of ye olde pub but I dont mind slumming it in a yuppie bar, lets just work our way through the bottled beers.

TTD, maybe us old pharts should do a seperate BBeer, senior citizen evening out and home for the coco by 10

Dont hold your breath for "The Elbow Room". They are constantly engaged but their site says:

Saturdays £2 after 9pm, £5 after 10pm
Flip Flop
Can you think of a better way to spend your Saturday night than bumping and grinding to a choice selection Hip Hop, r n b, funk and soul, with members of our rather attractive clientele? We think not!

Seriously thinking about the Dev function room again, anyone have a real problem with that?

I quite liked the Dev. Good beer, nice food, why mess with a winning formula? I meet you lot once a year, I don't want to spend the evening going "WHAT?" or "I CAN'T HEAR YOU".

Yeah, DBs and myself will not turn up for starters. No offense but it is a bit of an old mans Pub (Ted + Luap + Pipe & Slippers). Live a little people and try something new :)

I do, I found it rather boring and shit tbh. They don't sell real spirits but some mickey mouse wannabees, makes you kinda feel on an all inclusive holiday where they give you the local shit drinks for free.

If I turn up to that it would be for 30 mins max then I would be fucking off somewhere else, more than likely that pool place as I am not sitting in a shit pub on the eve of my birthday when I could be having a decent pissup somewhere else being surrounded by women not grannies...

Sorry but I am still young at heart and don't want the slippers and pipe just yet.

NB: Unless one of the points of BB has changed (i.e. meeting the peeps), I don't think anyone is particularly going "for the venue" so to speak.

(Though pretty much any JD Weatherspoons is probably better than the Dev in honestly, price & selection and less likely to be labeled)

My requirements : Good beer, seats, and music you can have a conversation over. Other than that, sort it out amongst yourselves, Londoners.:p

Megs right, the idea is to meet and greet and chat, not dance, get hammered senseless (too fast) and spend 10 mins yelling each other "whats your online nick?"

DBs, Zarj, I'm open to suggestions :D

Myabe, just maybe, I'll grace you southern shandy supping faggots with my presence this year....

That's _if_ I can find someone who wants to give a snoring northern gobshite a bed for the night.

:p

I don't want a boring place but somewhere that you can hold conversations would be good. It's like a normal gathering of mates for most people so being able to communicate would be a big bonus.

I don't mind too much on the pub although that Devereux pub was a bit shocking in that they had every drink you wanted "but not quite".

There's always closing time for those that want to letch to go on to clubs and stuff. But it would be nice if we can find a place that will keep DBs from wandering off before he gets drunk and does some thing stupid that 20 people can all capture on digital camera to be posted on the net before he even gets home. :)

I don't mind too much about the totty cos I'll have Dams with me but some eye-candy would be nice. ;)

We're still on the lookout for somewhere to stay cos our last train home is 10:05pm or we can get a train at 11:05pm and an expensive taxi from Herne Bay to Canterbury.

NOT THE ELBOW ROOMS - PLEASE

Hi Guys! As the driving force behind the first couple of BarryBeers I'm delighted to see that they're now happening without me even having to nudge anyone. Big props to Luap for doing this, even if he does spend most BarryBeers getting drunk and telling me my life is a waste of time. :)

Now, the real reason I'm posting is to suggest a really good place. I live right near the Islington Elbow rooms. On saturday night it is Hell on Earth. Take my word for it, PLEASE. We WILL have a shit time if we go there on that night, and everyone will be so gutted they'll probably never come to a BB again.

SO - here's my suggestion. Let's go to the Albion, in Islington, not a million miles from that Bierodrome Zarjazz was on about.

It has the following things going for it:
1) In zone 1
2) Just slightly off the beaten track, so less full.
3) Roomy
4) No music
5) Good, reasonable food
6) Real ales

It is a fabbo top pub (it is on the front cover of a good pubs book I own) and somewhere I'd vouch for any day. This site is a fair reflection:
http://www.fluidfoundation.com/venueDetails.asp?Venue_ID=264

So, come on guys, let's do it!

Fank j00 chets but with a the cost of a hotel on top of the night out, it's more than we can afford.

I'll give my friends in Hounslow a ring...but of a trek tho.

SK was looking for a hotel to share wiht someone, I am sure other might need somewhere to kip too. If you can find a hotel that doesn't mind sharing then you may get a bargain.

Hi there.

A few of the #quake2.uk regulars and myself are interested in coming to try some of your famous barrybeer and we wondered if you would be so kind as to answer some of our queries?

1. Is barrysbeer for over 18’s only? Can I drive after drinking barrysbeer?

2. Can I use credits from barrysbank to purchase barrysbeer?

3. Do we have to wear the silly caps that most people seem to wear? I can’t see many #quake2.uk regulars being willing to make themselves look that stupid.

4. I notice from the pictures that there seems to be no females, is this intentional? Or can we bring partners?

5. Will ^Barry^ be attending?

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions and hopefully we will see you all soon.

Lots of love and kisses.

Kan
