Only just noticed this thread!

I'll be there and do my best to drag Damini along to. I've got now real plans for any of those nights as I plan exactly 24hrs in advance most things I do. But I'd prefer friday the 12. 13th isn't a problem though.

Us two could do with a place to stay if there's any going! :)

Great beer + lots of it. Top totty (for DBs of course), decent food + music.

BB home is Biero in Angel / Islington but they've got places in Camden & Soho.

Soho is more central but busy, Islington we can get seats but maybe slightly further to travel for some (that u Luap u lazy git! :)

Comments?

Is islington anywhere near wapping? If I go I might have to stay there so being close would be a boon.

I'm sorry, but if ever there was a reason not to turn up for an event, the image above supplies it.

shurrup foo. barrybeer rocks :p

NB. me being a stranger to lundun second to none, I need exact directions to where our venue will be. or picking up at some station (preferably heh). I'll be flying in to gatwick probably, and the last BB (at the Deveraux) I managed to find thanks to the "how to find the place" thread that was created.

I want to come to this.

I've been to London loads but only for work purposes or to go see bands. I have no fecking clue where the places you mention are.

If I could kip on someone's floor or failing that get a cheap b&b nearby or something then I'm up for it.

Better still, if someone from OoP North is going down, let me know (Wij? :)). Maybe we can travel down together.

Btw that photo really does NOT distil the gamer image ;)

TDC you numbnut.

I live in Croydon, you fly to Gatwick. Gatwick express every 15 mins goes thru East Croydon. Come here first, drop shit off, then both of us and maybe Jopasc will travel up together.

Easy eh?

That was a oneoff picture as far as I am concerned. I will not wear another hat for fear of messing up my hair :p

Id like to come over for this. My brother lives near London so it would be an excuse to visit him too.

Never been to London though sounds kinda scary

sounds like a plan! is East Croydon a station? I'll also need directions to your house (or a pickup which is better imo: tdc is unhappy walking aimlessly about after all the nasty stories he's heard from Meg about Croydon ;))

LOL. Croydon isn't that bad, safer than the other bits of South London. Eat Croydon is the major Croydon station, the Gatwick express only goes to four stops, including East Croydon. It's also about 15 minutes walk from DB's, and 5 minutes from the pub we will be lubricating in before we go on to BB.

Directions:

Go to trainstation at Gatwick. Ring DBs and tell him you are getting on train. Get on Gatwick Express. Get off at East Croydon station. DBs will be waiting for you......

That should do for ya.

Nah, anytime is good after 12pm as the waterholes are all open then :)

Has the date been set then?

well, the saturday has the most votes? perhaps someone (ie yourself or Luap, as (unwilling) organiser) should do a roll-call and fix the date.

as to after 12, that's perfect. I aim to be in the air between 12 and 13:00, so it's between 14 and 15:00 that I'll be scooting into the pub and ordering a round I guess.

Some folk have been whining about the choice of venue so I ask for other recommendations, bearing in mind:

*30-50 ppl
*range of different tastes in what they want to drink
*no music or minor varied background stuff
*women - for DBs, white sticks and no decency - for the women
*central london, near a tube station
*if its the Saturday make sure it's open, a lot of london pubs are closed on Saturdays.
*no silly prices for normal beer
*some folk will be under 21, some under 18

If you can personally recommend somewhere please link us all to the good-pub-guide review or whatever.

in an aside, why would any self-respecting pub close on a saturday? is it some obscure trade law or something?
