So their Microsoft store is shite...cos its microshite and they are desperately trying to push all their wank on us, lets lock down the OS and warn of unspecific dire consequences of turning it off.
Oh and if you do theres no going back...are you sure?

And they boast its fucking free to switch off S... its like booking a Ryanair flight.

Oh and only free for Home users...
They are actually fining other users for doing it.
By the time we get to win15, it will be a monthly lease and you'll get included 5000 mouse clicks and 10 apps per session
The premium package will be unlimited mouse clicks and 50 apps per session.

BA you can only check in 24 hours before your flight. No option free or otherwise to do it longer than that. So ryan air actually allow you more time before a flight than a premium carrier.

True, but BA have an app and let you use the boarding pass within it, Ryanair don't iirc. Most airlines only give you 24 hours these days, but even flybe have an app you can use. However there are two key takeaways here:

1) Job is a dribbling retard who can't use a website, or anything technical really.
2) O'Leary is a bit of a cunt and should allow electronic boarding passes

Ryanair have app based boarding passes. Have had them for years.

So usual forced win10 update..which is just actually more store and drive shite.
So in the middle of browsing a fucking popup slides out.

'Congratulations your store is now available'.

Fucking congratulations!!

Jesus shit on a stick Im surprised it didnt have a flashing yellow/red backround with little stars cascading down, they really are the fucking pits.
Id expect that from a porn website not the number 1 OS on the planet.

This is just going to get worse before it gets better

R/philosophy mods are pretty sensitive.
I just got a three day ban for this post.

This is the only discussion that philosophy should be having. I feel a lot of people tend towards free will because cause and effect just seems so mind numbingly convoluted to bring about the end result.

Either everything started at the big bang and the ultimate outcome is decided by the laws of physics, or the universe has built consciousness and can use it to alter the path...or maybe the laws of physics have a tolerance and allow for free will in small areas.

All posts must develop and defend a substantive philosophical thesis.

Posts must not only have a philosophical subject matter, but must also present this subject matter in a developed manner. At a minimum, this includes: stating the problem being addressed; stating the thesis; stating how the thesis contributes to the problem; outlining some alternative answers to the same problem; saying something about why the stated thesis is preferable to the alternatives; anticipating some objections to the stated thesis and giving responses to them. These are just the minimum requirements. Posts about well-trod issues (e.g. free will) require more development.

I know, I read that and its just developes a circlejerk of word wank..amusingly my comment was being upvoted before they decided it wasnt a full thesis of philosphy porn.

Its just a little club they have down there that has descended into a religion.
If you post generic terms and arguments they will let you prattle on all day.

I think what pissed me off is they banned me for shitposting.

Dont shitpost in r/philosophy.

Which is fucking hilarious.

Not at all @Job - they want a thread that goes somewhere and enforce rules that makes that achieveable - minimum standards of argument (rather than just a pointless circular chat).

You broke the rules - and their thread - so you got a temporary ban. Fair gsme.

Shame is - it's pointless anyway - philosophy is dead. Science killed it.

They mention no opinion or musing.

Thats the entire fucking basis of philosophy...there are no facts yet...or at least any that cant be argued away.

To muse is to idly speculate - to daydream

That forum is clearly explicitly setup to stop that so intelligent people can advance argument.

Your post was idle musing. Period.

You, and people like you, don't belong there. You're just a thread-derailer and polluter. Read by all means, but you've nothing to contribute, so don't post.

I cordially disagree; moral philosophy has never been more relevant, and science creates more ethical conundrums every day.

99% of people won't share this picture of a poppy, show your respect by sharing it.

Wwwwwwttttttfffffff.

Reminds me of that meme where someone offloads a truckload of cardboard cut outs of likes in Africa.

It’s that time of year alright. I noticed with shock and outrage that Helena Bonham Carter wasn’t wearing one on Graham Norton the other night. I immediately took to social media to denounce her as unpatriotic scum, then I remembered I don’t give a fuck and didn’t.

I actually agree that in the specific area of moral philosophy there's still a place. However, in the big traditional philosophical areas of "why are we here", "what is the purpose of life" etc. philosophy never did provide any real answers - because it is poorly equipped to do so. It could offer no evidential basis for it's ideas - whereas science has pretty much answered those type of questions in complete evidential detail.

Moral philosophy is more about what we want in a changing landscape - but again, if it doesn't base it's arguments around a solid evidential base (as provided by science - as it's the only evidential basis that means anything) then it's bunkum.

Time has shown that pure philosophy is a meaningless subject which offers no rational answers. I think we've shown beyond the shadow of any doubt that proper, real evidence needs to be the startpoint and regular touchpoints of these sorts of discussions - otherwise all philosophy can give us is unstubstantiated "woo".

Sorry @Wij ;)

It's fine, AI will sort all that out for us... right? ;)

I rarely post there because its as you describe..a circle of old ideas and pseudo scientific fashion.

I always put my oar in on free will, because my thoughts are as valid as anyones...you can do all the study on the brain you like,.but without understanding consciousness you can never prove or disprove free will.

My post was actually that any free will in the universe can undermine the laws of physics..so the entire universes laws have all ready been totally swept aside by alien free will.

Thats a reasonable presumption based on what we know.
If they want facts only...then they might as well close the subreddit.

Yep. It doesn't even fit the physics we know about.

All it displays is lack of education and is exactly the sort of shit the rules are there to kick out.

We dont know anything.

Even the best studies of the brain are still wild presumptions on minimal data.
Youve only got to listen to the top scientists and philosophers for 30 mins to see they are as clueless as the man in the street.
