That feeling when you realise the freehub for which you've waited over a week, and which you gave the shop the exact details for, is designed for cup and cone bearings, and the axle you have has cartridge bearings. This is why I try not to buy unbranded cheap crap.

@Tom fwiw I just invested in a pair of Hope wheels and every since they arrived I have been kicking myself that I did not do this earlier. Not even that expensive at ~440 eur.

I have a Hope rear wheel, I bought it when this freehub died. But when the chain ripped the derailleur off last week, it pulled the freehub out of the Hope. Nothing wrong with it, but the seal between the freehub body and the wheel is slightly distorted. So I'm waiting for a new seal before I can put it back together.

Hope stock all parts. Replacement of anything at all won't be a problem.

You'd think so, but I ordered replacement seals on Wednesday and they've still not arrived. You can't buy direct from them :(

Middleburn... Is that what you get after sitting on one of those hard seats for too long?

Two hours of designing and building a massive steel mill station in OpenTTD only to realize I had done all the entrance and exit tracks exactly the wrong way round and ragequitting.

Have you ever thought that maybe you might be more suited to a... less... um... mentally taxing line of work? (one that doesn't involve using Office)

Getting back from a wonderful bank holiday weekend - canoeing, biking, horse riding and a barnstorming up and down run at snowdon - to open my emails and find that my contract is being terminated on 25th September 'cause HSBC are laying off all their contract staff.

Fucking whoop de do.

Sorry to hear that @Scouse

It is stuff like that which has been keeping me awake for about 3 weeks while I ponder a career choice. An ex college got devastated by a 0 working hours contract to the point where he was repossessed.

Ta.

It does indeed throw rather large bags of spanners in the works. Was going to go for a mortgage and needed at least a six month contract to even have a chance. And it's the wrong time of year to be looking too. Fucknuggets.

Ah well :(

Unfortunately that's true. Lots of benefits to contracting but job security isn't one of them.

Agreed. I think job security is largely mythical anyway - I daresay a lot of their permie staff will go soon too.

The bank is putting the boot in because some people think it owes us one for the british taxpayer bailing it out and it getting caught in a series of horrible criminal activities yet having nobody jailed.

If we had a decent government we'd retaliate by arresting huge swathes of the top level bosses and whacking them on trial. We can get banking services anywhere without being held to ransom by a criminal organisation...
