I'm going to put this on Aidsbook and see how many Facetards believe and share it.

4 hours spent debugging wondering why my objects were always null. then I realized I had accidentally used bootstrap form annotation instead of spring form annotation in my creation form.

As much as I love cars, and mine especially, they are seriously fucking annoying when they go in for service. Bill is currently sitting at £1100 and we're only halfway through the day.....

Needs 2 tyres, new bulbs and ballast resistors for the headlights (whoever owned it beforehand decided BMW lights weren't good enough, so fitted some aftermarket jobs which look convincing, but seem about as reliable as a Greek tax return), 6 spark plugs, air filter and an oil change.

Bah fucking humbug.

Seriously, 1100 quid for that is stupidly expensive. Even with gold plated contacts and high spec igniters the spark plugs could only be max 20-30 GBP each. Problem is that the garages rip everyone off by charging two to three the market rate. Standard Bosch ones for the 530i are only around 15 Euros!

Most of that you should really be able to do yourself.

...and don't get BMW to fit your tyres, go to an indi and get them done. Its not like there are BMW exclusive tyres.

No doubt they are rinsing you on the labour.

I took my Transit into Ford for its service, and one of the things that needed doing was a new fuel filler cap. They wanted nearly £200 because they said they had to configure the new cap to my key and it would take a couple of hours, so I said no thanks

A few months later I went into the parts dept and asked about it again to the parts guy, he said I needed to buy the barrel and the plastic cap separately, and to leave it with him for half hour and he would put it together for me.

It cost £80

Sadly they are a special BMW fitment - run flats you see. They're also 245 wide and 18 inch, so not cheap. Getting it all done through an independent, wouldn't take it near BMW, as you say they are ripoff merchants. Just been an unfortunate double whammy of a big service and new tyres, nothing has actually broken, other than the stupid headlights.

Getting the full bill shortly, done think it's actually that much, that was an estimate.

Dropped the GT off at an indy today too. They didn't contact me to let me know what the damage will be. When I called them to see if I could pick up the car, the girl who answered the call couldn't contact anyone from the garage-proper and couldn't tell me if the car was done or not.

It was only 1050 in the end! To be fair the bill takes up 2 pages so had loads done, that got:

2 Rear Tyres
Oil
Oil filter
Spark plugs (12 quid each made by Denso)
Air filter
Pollen filter
Bulb and ballast kit for the lights
Screenwash
Full valet

Bill has come at a bad time but good lord the car runs well now.

Did they update your "How To Drive Like a Cunt" manual too? Comes as standard for both BMW and Audi doesn't it? :p

If you like pigeon holing people and think all stereotypes are true then yes. Yes they did.

My rx400h has a big service next week, cambelt + tensioner and whatever else. I'm guessing between £500 and £1000 although I'm vat registered so it's slightly less painful for me.
