Met the spine surgeon today. Gonna scrap off some of my bulging disks. Four weeks or so to my first general anesthetic.

1:1200 chance of being permanently weakened in bowel bladder or legs. Is that good odds or not? Lol.

Hope to be walking again by august 1st.

Work been good though ;)

retards letting their phones ring for a million years before answering. usually with a trendy ringtone. there are about 8000 people per square foot in this train. dude, answer your fucking phone before someone snaps and kills you. it might even be me. sweet murderous release, I yearn for it!

I tend to answer or suppress my phone within seconds of it ringing. I don't hold it in my hand until it stops, my lips pursed, having some internal debate pertained to answering it.

I do this :(

Sometimes I just can't be bothered to talk to people.

That being said, I do sometimes answer the phone and tell people this.

Yeah I have two mates that have made that mistake. They have to ask permission to go away for the weekend, fucking terrible situation to be in.

Two friends(good ones) getting married during the summer(not to eachother), it's a step closer i guess, but luckily they don't act different when married.

Marriage of convinience and they've been living together for ages already, so not really. The female friend is unreliably outgoing anyway, as per usual with women who date :p

They will.....
I wonder whether that's a specifically more-western thing.

Girls in the UK seem to think that marriage = they own their partner.

I saw a couple with a very young baby in the lakes the other weekend - the bloke was covered in mud sat in the boot of his car holding the kid with his muddy bike in front of him - he'd obviously been on the same techie ride I'd been on with my missus. We were getting changed at our car when his bird came back, covered in mud. They'd obviously taken it in turns to go for a ride and look after the kid - which we thought was pretty cool. They were both scandi's.

I figured that the vast majority of british couples wouldn't do that - mainly because the bird would be insistent that if they weren't doing the exact same thing at the exact same time then she'd throw her toys out of the pram...

Yeah there are some couples ofcourse who go bonkers when married, but exceptions to the rule around here. Mostly they start being "unsocial" when/if they get a kid, but that's a given ofc.

Marriage can change how people will behave, kids will change how people behave. And its not because you necessarily want to see your friends less, you're just too exhausted and skint to bother in the first few years, and by the time you get your life back, you and most of your old friends are moving in different circles.

I'm pretty lucky that me and my missus give each other time to go out with friends, at least as much as is practical, but it would be really easy to just to drift into being a couple that only ever socialise with other people with kids. Apart from anything else, you know that everyone's going to want to get home at a reasonable hour for the babysitter and you're not going to be nursing a hangover while your four year old plays the bongos on your skull the next morning. Looking after small kids with a hangover is the worst.

I finished all the feedback on my final paper this afternoon. It goes to the printer tomorrow. I have filled about 200 pages with 46.000 words, diagrams, drawings and tables. I didn't count all the reports and emails because I gave up and went home. I've actually stopped caring about getting the degree, I just want things to end.

200 pages with 46 words, diagrams, drawings and tables? You suck.

No, I mean a printer as in a person who publishes books. We're forced to turn in our work on, um, analog media.

Afaict, the " physical media" thing has to do with the law or some such idiocy. It was probably first compiled in 1732 and then never changed.

I'm tempted to see if I can get 6 1GB USB1 pendrives from china.com and give them to the assessors as an ironic gesture... after I pass ofc.
