Mrs is terrible in the morning, she gets up at 5:40 am and insists on drying her hair in our bedroom. I've pointed out a million times that we have two other unused bedrooms she could do that in. Her answer this morning, "but I like this mirror!" Really annoyed me today because I was up late watching the football and did not need to get up until 9 am. Also had to do a long sales presentation today (pm) so really was bloody inconsiderate.

Actually, my bristly-chinned yet strangely effeminate chum, I think I have worked out what the problem is:

when you do a "save as" option in Word like save as PDF, it actually uses a printer facility to "print" your original document to the new document format. To print successfully, the entire SOURCE document, or even worse the NORMAL.DOT (yes, insane, I know) is -at the moment of printing- formatted to fit whatever printer is configured on your system. I don't have a printer so it follows that I don't have a printer configured. Thus Word reformats my document, actually the base template for ALL of Word to fit the default printer (they call that reflowing). This changes things and can make the layout of the PDF differ from the layout in the Word doc. It would seem that it's not just Word, but basically any editor that has a preview for layouts. Google docs does it as well. Naturally, the fact that my results are made unpredictable by the method used to "print" documents, along with the fact that my source document is somehow changed by the fact I just printed it fills me with the utmost rage.

To get around this I've downloaded a pdf printer that uses ghostscript and some other things to create a high quality PDF. Hopefully this will help, but you can expect more rage from me if it doesn't
