i am a total noob when it comes to basic refurbishment but the previous tenant takes the freaking biscuit

we moved into new place about 2 weeks ago and I am still repairing holes in the walls and other fuck ups

Todays example, a hideous shelf was left behind by previous tenant, I take out all screws holding it to wall but it still seems stuck... you can tell from the marks on paint that they attached it while the paint was still wet in effect glueing it to the wall (and ripping the paint off with it when it came off)

So now instead of just taking off some shelves i have to repaint the wall

After much hoop jumping, I managed to open a Japanese bank account. I tried to transfer my money from my UK bank account to my Japanese one but then realised that I had forgotten to bring a card reader with me to Japan (I need to use this card reader every time I make a payment to a new account). My mum posted a card reader to me but it still hadn't arrived a week after it was supposed to. I sent the money to my brother instead who was then going to transfer it to my Japanese account, except he forgot. And now his bank's website is down, and they don't seem to process international transactions over the weekend anyway. Then even when he eventually does the transaction I'm going to have to wait like 4 days. I currently have about 500 yen (about £2.70) to live off until the money arrives. My housemate told me this morning that I owe 1000 yen for communal stuff like toilet paper for this month still.

edit: oh and the card reader arrived just after I sent all the money to my brother
