The lock on my bathroom door. I've never had a lock to the toilette in any of the places I've lived before so I've never used it in my own home before. But now that i got it, I automatically lock the door, which results in me smashing my face against the door every time I'm done and I try to open the door

I never lock toilet door when at home, after two weeks of working from home i ended up flashing some poor guy at uni who not only got an eyeful of my junk but was hit with the smell of me dropping the kids off at the pool too...

I even lock my bedroom door when going to sleep. It's a relaxing thing really, assurances etc.

Nothing to do with trust and no it's not a prison. It's just one less thing to think about when going to bed, does no harm and adds benefits in extreme situations. As said, relaxing thing.

What i find interesting is how locking a door is such an "issue"(or strange) to people :p

But if you can't trust the people you live with then move out tbh.

Not always a choice.

Until moving in with the wife I barely remembered to lock the front door.

I think what I find disturbing is that you feel there's something to think about when you go to bed m8.

I understand you get a bit of comfort from your lock, but I've never found one necessary in any shared house I've lived in. If I felt it was, I'd have moved out.

If you feel you've no choice then I feel for you m8.

Not about having no choice, or need, don't overanalyze it :p

I keep the door closed anyway due to being a light sleeper to block out sounds(not to mention privacy) and when closing the door i just flick the lock. No harm/effort so why not. Honestly it's just like locking the front door, or checking that your kitchen appliances are off.

i used to lock my door when i lived in student housing, even though i shared the house with people i knew reasonably well - pranks are not fun with hangover!

Yeah and even if you trust(to a degree) people you've lived with for a few months, it still doesn't mean you trust them :p

Especially with my computer. I wouldn't trust any of you with my baby.

Hope you don't have a fire.

A fire in my room is as likely as someone breaking into the house(which the door benefits from) and a fire in any other part of the house(especially with my balcony access) would be the same thing. Win win :p

The front door on the share house I live in is pretty much never locked. Seems like some people (including me) don't bother locking their room doors either. I've also seen lots of bikes left around the city centre with no locks on them. I guess Japanese people are just too polite to steal. I would never leave my front door or my bike unlocked in the UK.

I'm sorry.

But all this Paul Walker shit with the new film is making me feel sick.

I once went to my car (parked on the street) to discover I'd left it unlocked for the three days since I'd last used it. Whoops.

My missus locks the doors even when we're in the house during the day. I guess I'm just not that paranoid.

I go out my back door of a weekend and forget to lock it, only notice when I go out there again the following weekend.

I'm always leaving my keys in the front door, over night, on the outside!! Only realise when im looking for them the following morning

My mom locked my first girlfriend in. She didn't know that she was there, so naturally she just locked the door when she left. Our relationship ended shortly after that

I left my car door wide open overnight on the driveway once.
Luckily nothing was taken!

And you're all forgetting the @Wij factor. I don't want surprise bumsex during the night. You're all fools for not locking your doors.
