Heh, I earn a decent wage and I have been given one no questions asked, entire course is paid for. Nearly 12k all in.

I see it as getting some of the tax I have paid back.

Aye, you get more money, because you have a 'family' to fund for, it's total bullshit really, you're just getting free cash, whereas students have to scrape by with bullshit money, unless your mum and dad don't work.

339 miles from work to Fistral Beach in Newquay. In current traffic: 5 hours 51 minutes.

I'll be well pissed off if I don't make it for last orders. I'll be doubly pissed off if I do because my missus and the mate and his missus have been there a couple of days already and there's a high chance (>200%) they'll be smashed already and the remainder of the evening will be spent babysitting them.

Lastly, all the weather shows that I've missed the best of it and some rain may be incoming this weekend.

But fuck it. I'll be on holiday :D

You just have to delay going to uni a couple years then you get to be accounted on your own rather than your parents. I went at twenty rather than eighteen. So was counted as mature student and not reliant on parents.

Going to see if I can get an NUS card now too to further claim some tax back.

Not neccesarily, it depends if you live with your parents etc etc, it's such a flawed system;

Do you live at your own house IE not with your parents?
Yes
Do you earn money, and going to earn money whilst on your course?
Yes

Here's £15k because you need it to survive.

Do you live at your own house? IE not with your parents?
No, but I will be living in a student house whilst at Uni.
Do you earn money, and going to earn money whilst on your course?
No

Here's £5k then.

Makes little sense to me.

From an economics perspective, if you give students more than mature students it's only going to be good anyway, because they're more likely to spend more money in towns and causing towns to get better, but mature students are more likely to put the money in the bank and see it as a cool low interest loan.

Hate you tax-dodging types.

Who cares if it's by the rules? You should be voluntarily paying more money than is due for the social good, remember?

isn't that what Jimmy Carr said?

Maybe. but the difference is, I don't get overly excited over people dodging tax, then do the same, then complain about those that do.

I will quite happily rinse every penny I can from the public purse and encourage everyone to do so.

I couldn't care less if people dodged taxes, or did anything that doesn't actually steal -directly- from other people.

More power to you for making the greens.

I'd even apply that to bank robbers if they weren't so damn violent. Used to be that banks were robbed during the night.

Yeah ofcourse the law the law and your risk if you break it, just personal "taste"on the matter ;)

On a random note; Roomies GF keeps leaving the toilet ring down(and the cover up) whenever she's visiting. This is a house rented by men.

Told her that in this house we leave both the ring and seat up young lady.

What? I couldn't care less about your tax dodging, it is rather funny that you winge about others doing it though.

RE: Student Loans..

I do hate their shitness, but their shitness just benefited me.

They reckon they didn't give me enough last year, so they just gave me a grant of £2.2k for the summer

Safe.

all money you have to repay. If you can do without it over the summer why take it?

It was a grant, so it's just free money, don't have to pay it back.

And even if it was a loan, its the best loan you're going to get, so you may aswell accept even if you're not going to use it.

It's stupid low rate if it was a loan. But it's still got to be paid back. Glad it's a grant :).

I made a quiche. After putting it in the oven I did my sexy quiche dance, during which I accidentally kicked my kitchen table. My table is about a quarter of a tonne worth of wood, and my toes...specifically the bones therein, like most of my bones actually, are for want of a better word...brittle. I think I broke two. We'll see tomorrow I guess.

the quiche turned out awesome though, so bright sides and such!

Hope it's ok. I was doing my ' if you like it then you better put a ring on it' dance in my ensuite and I dislocated my knee. Old age sucks!
