Yes, Raven I go out of my way to annoy others by eating something they disapprove of
Infact, I spend all that money just to piss off someone else!

When I spend too long focusing on something and then my brain can't stop thinking about it when I go to bed. Used to happen with starcraft a lot lol. I spent ages on my computer architecture coursework yesterday and last night I had a nightmare about a circuit diagram that kept changing every time I looked at it.

Amazon screwed up the Mrs order that we need to send on to New Zealand.

Lousy customer service - get an automated mail saying it was undeliverable but no actual details on why only a link to a page full of inapplicable reason (considering we get about 2 amazon deliveries a week successfully) except for 'damaged in transit' so we now assume that's what happened but with the crappy couriers they sometimes use could be anything.

Mail says they are refunding the order and no replacement - when you look at the order under her account it has the cheek to say that we are returning the items - chance would be a fine thing!

On top of that other parts of the order are saying crazy stuff like 'delivered jan 1st 1970' - I think they are losing it tbh - don't rely on them for deliveries around Christmas.

Heh, the old 1st of jan 1970. They use a 32 bit integer to hold the date in terms of seconds since 00:00:00 1st jan 1970 (since that's when unix AWOKE) and they've got some shitty software somewhere that just says "I dunno, here's a 0" when an error occurs.

They are really struggling at the moment. They actually do their own deliveries now too (read Polish guy in a beat up transit) via their own company APLE. Their delivery window is a hilarious 7am until 9pm. A combination of Xmas and black Friday is putting a lot of strain on their infrastructure.

They are building a lot of new, smaller depots around the country at the moment so going forward they should improve a lot.

It will seen become pointless to own or visit a shop...for good or bad.

This. I'm clearly a peasant because I don't like Foie Gras, I don't like Caviar, I really don't like oysters, and I can just about tolerate truffles. I do like champagne though; best lager money can buy.
I'm with you on the caviar and champagne is just "meh" but I have to admit that I really do like Foie Gras, and I'm someone who detests paté. Some of the nicest sushi I've ever eaten was Foie Gras with oysters, or a good steak with a slice of good Foie Gras on top, both heavenly. I also eat meat and we kill billions of animals a year for food and as long as there is no unnecessary cruelty involved I'd be pretty hypocritical to not want to eat it on ethical grounds.

I'm with you on many things Gaff, but truffles are the stuff of the gods. Peasant :p
As to FG I still have to get around to trying that. Tbh the only thing I draw the line at is whale and shark...mostly because I love whales and sharks. Everything else can line up to my BBQ tbh!

Whale meat is actually poor person food (I've never had it but apparently its pretty grim). I have had shark; Hakkrl (urgh) and shark steaks in Asia (Thailand or Malaysia, I forget which). I wouldn't have shark's fin soup though.

There was a golden period where they used DPD. Those guys are awesome. They gave you a 1-2 hour slot and sent you text updates. Presumably too expensive for amazon.

It was hopelessly slow to be dispatched by Amazon as well - considering it was a few popular books, a dvd released this month and a popular game - all stuff you would expect to be on hand. So we waited a week to be told it wasn't actually coming :/

Doubt it, DPD are reasonably competitive for us (they're one of three we use), and in the UK Metapack means no-one is really competing on price any more. Problem Amazon have had for a few years now is simply available capacity at the service levels they want, hence the move into their own chain. I'm actually surprised they didn't do it sooner.

DPD used to be so bad, haven't had any bother recently from them mind. Round here we've been getting a lot of deliveries from a company called Yodel, THE worst courier service ever.

i always plan ahead for xmas as theres no way im dealing with any company and the shocking delivery systems they use around christmas. Too much chance of stuff going wrong and if it does it takes ages to sort out. So i try and get all my ordering stuff done early before black friday and xmas hit.

Yodel is the rebranded Home Delivery Network. I don't think I've ever heard anybody have a good word to say about them, ever.

She ordered before the Black Friday week began - Amazon just sat on it.

Stick it in gold/equities so it's currency neutral. Cash is for mugs.

Went out last night cause the girlfriend wanted to get my Christmas shopping done with, bought a coat for £90.

Just looked on Amazon, it's going for between £49-£63

The moral is, don't buy anything in a shop. They will rip you off.

I can understand that with anything except clothes Raven, need to make sure they fit before you get them surely.

Edmond has a point though, unfortunately.

Funny thing is, if it wasn't for this site I'd have no bloody idea what show rooming means.
