The point was; "People getting upset that Tonto in Lone ranger wasn't played by an authentic native american" which stands fine with or without discussing homage nick fury.

Yeah, analogy can fail(whole nother discussion), not the point ;)

People that shifts the blame on everyone else. Feeling sorry for themselves and assumes people around them takes responsibility for their fuckups.

Their login/account system is making my brain hurt. I've had an account since forever and I was browsing their forums yesterday (I was getting bored with adverts every other post) so I went to log in. It didn't work so I thought "fair enough, it's been a good 2 or 3 years since I've used the account, maybe they changed something". I did the "forgot password" bit and got a temp pass and then logged in and changed it (successfully - it said "updated" on the password change page).

I went to log in today and neither the pass it gave me yesterday or the pass I changed it to worked. So I got another temp pass just now and did it all again. Now it's logged in (apparently) and I cannot see a log out button anywhere so I can test the pass to see if it's worked.

The whole Lone Ranger thing was a joke. You can not have Depp as a plucky side kick to an actor that is nowhere near his equal. The biggest name should be the title character to at least only a bit part character. To have a superstar beside the title character who is a nobody was doomed to fail. And it was just fucking lazy by Depp has he decided Jack Sparrow is the only character he can play now?

He is a typical director though he cant just pick a massively popular film to win that that would be a cliche he has to pick something that everyone else thought was shit so he can point out the parts of the film we the public missed as we are too pedestrian. Oscars ect are always a load of shit. The main reason to make a film is to make money so the film of the year is the one that makes the most money not some shit chic flick about a bomb disposal expert that is so far from the truth it is laughable.

Man i really fucking hate The Hurt Locker.

  • Afternoon Delight (Jill Soloway) - Never heard of.
  • Before Midnight (Richard Linklater) - Never heard of.
  • Blue Jasmine (Woody Allen) - Never heard of.
  • The Conjuring (James Wan) - Horror. Pass.
  • Drinking Buddies (Joe Swanberg) - Has Olivia Wilde in it, heard good things. On my list.
  • Frances Ha (Noah Baumbach) - Never heard of.
  • Gravity (Alfonso Cuarón) - To see.
  • Kick Ass 2 (Jeff Wadlow) - Not as good as the first one, but certainly worth a watch. Probably going to re-watch
  • The Lone Ranger (Gore Verbinski) - To watch, GF thought it was average (She got a free advanced screening to it)
  • This is the End (Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg) - This film was mental. So much better than I was expecting

I watched the Lone Ranger last night and it was funny and I liked it. Wife thought the same. It's a twist on the old story so don't expect that but take it as it is and I think it stands on its own merits.

That's gay is what it is, I was just reading about it. He's kind of over a barrel because they might bring some pointless lawsuit or fuck with his personal account or something if he doesn't comply but fuck facebook, honestly. Social Fixer was the only thing that made it tolerable.

Maybe he could "accidentally" let someone reverse engineer it (I don't think it's open source as it is) and then hand over control but then "accidentally" keep on working on it under a different pseudonym.

tbh FB screwing up his personal account or whatever is very childish but somehow exactly what I would expect from them :(

It's not a forgone conclusion that they'd win any lawsuit they threw at him but they would bankrupt him in the process. It's just not worth him engaging with them. :(

He could probably crowd fund enough cash to lawyer up properly.

Much as I dislike Facebook, its their (free) platform, their rules. Reading the guy's complaints about Facebook he points out Facebook don't want him screwing around with the their algorithm to affect advertising. Well no shit Sherlock.

If you want services where you can control them and legitimately have a say in how they're run, buy them. Don't complain when it turns out there's actually a price to pay for "free" stuff. You are the product.

Yeah of course they can do what they like. They have more justification for some of the features than others (I don't see what harm the Friend Tracker thing does) but yeah, it's their site.

At the end of the day, all of the Social Fixer code runs on the client's machine so all Facebook can do to stop it (other than threatening the guy ofc) is to keep obfuscating the code to break it every time the author adds/changes a feature. I could keep an out-of-date version to prevent all these features being removed but they could probably break said out-of-date version in about 3 seconds.

LOL. Washing Machine engine just went. Started making some mental dubstep sounds, then the whole thing flushed outwards and now if you turn it on it sounds like grinding metal and doesn't spin, drain, bring water in etc..

Oh well, there goes £200 tonight and £200 for rail tomorrow..

I could not give less of a shit about any of the superfluous rubbish in these sort of shows. Don't give a shit about Dana and Chris is a complete waste of airtime - his sole purpose in the show so far seems to have been his dad missing his karate exhibition last season. He just contributes *nothing* to any aspect. Would be kinda nice if we could get a scene or two with Brody in. If we don't have Brody I don't see why we have to follow his family around. Instead of that we get to watch a whole episode of Dana emo'ing all over the place and all this crap with Carrie's detention order. It's not a show about a stroppy teenage girl or bipolar disorder ffs, it's supposed to be about international espionage, terrorists and blowing shit up!

Homeland is turning into one of those shows that's going to go on longer than it should. Maybe it will kick in in the next ep when this money trail storyline warms up. It sure as shit needs to.

I couldn't get through the second season of homeland. It seemed interesting when I first started watching the show, but after a while I fucking hated all of the characters and the plot is retarded anyway so I just gave up.

Meh, didn't think I mentioned anything worth spoilering. There's nothing happening in the show to spoil.

If a mod wants to retro-spoiler it feel free.

That moment after coming back to work after two days off to a stack of emails and crap only to find out a member of staff has been doing it wrong for months and it will take most of the week to unravel it all.

Sometimes I think it just isn't worth taking holiday because of the backlog it creates!
